What next for the GOP?

Obviously no one knows where this ends, but a happy ending is very unlikely.

@just-jeepin Can't access, even with incognito.
Cliff's notes? What percentage chooses to be sane going forward, and what percentage sticks with Trump and his base?

@davesaddiction https://www.nationaljournal.com/s/711982?unlock=A2QMK636ICTDKJVM should do the trick

@just-jeepin I certainly don't think there will be any major breakup. The way we operate our system just can't accommodate more than two parties (we should fix this!), so in the short term, any large group breaking away would doom themselves. You could see a few established politicians declare themselves as independents (probably still caucusing with the GOP), but I wouldn't expect more than that.
-
Crazy... I hope that, for the good of the nation, the traditionalists win the day and regain control of the party going forward and that Trump's disciples have to break off and form their own, new, hopefully-soon-to-wither-and-die party (or will they attempt to take over control of the Libertarian Party?).
Wednesday was a huge (and terribly sad) moment in American history, and this moment is huge as well. The path the GOP chooses to take will have massive implications for our country for decades into the future.

They need to get the band back together

I don't know, I'm just spitballing here, but maybe... trial by combat?
-
@rallywrench How about trial by dance off?

At a minimum the wacko fringes are turning on each other. -
@gmporschenut-also-a-fan-of-hondas It’s hard to build a consensus when you don’t believe in real things.
