Help needed identifying this wheel
-
Good morning fellow Oppos!
I purchased a set of winter wheel/tires for my WRX, 3 matched the one pictured and the 4th was just a standard steel wheel. I got a great price for the set - so I figured 'no big deal', I'll just find one more of these so I have a set of 4 matched wheel. Well, I can't find one anywhere.
Anyone have any idea where I can find this 17" steel wheel. 5x114.3 pattern that fits a 2015 WRX.
It's not a bad looking wheel for a steelie, I would add center caps if I can get a matching set of 4.
Any help is appreciated! -
@trivet A quick search yielded 98 - 02 Forester steelies, but they're juuuuuust a bit different.
-
@trivet Are there any stamps on the wheel at all?

Those look to be 5 spoke while these are 6. Also, would they have had 17" steel wheels?
I got these off a CL/FB ad. Seller said he got the complete set from Discount tire, but they only had 3 of these in stock and put a "standard" steely on the 4th. He said he was desperate for wheels after a bad snow so he didn't care if they matched.
I never thought they may be OEM from something. That might help a bit.

None that I can see. But I haven't looked at the inside, so I'll have to pull one off this weekend.
-
@trivet That reminds me of the steelies off a Jeep Renegade, Patriot, etc. Looks a little different though.
-
@trivet If there's even something as little as the bolt pattern and the offset, it could be a start.
-
@trivet Those would have been 15”, and also 5x100.
Based on what you are saying, I’d lean more towards those wheels being an in-house offering from Discount Tire rather than being OEM from a manufacturer.

I went to Discount Tire yesterday - they have no idea what it is and can't get a match.

Similar, but those are also a 5 spoke/hole where mine are 6.
-
@trivet they had 6 spoke 15x6s as well.
But yours have a more pronounced rounded hump on each spoke, and smaller windows.
-
It might be easier and less of a waste of time to just buy another good used set of steelies from an auto recycler.
Typically I use car-part.com to find stuff like that.
And then sell (or give away) the old non-matching steelies.
-
@trivet I bet the staff either couldn’t or didn’t want to go through the trouble of identifying them. Any chance on contacting the seller to see if he has an itemized receipt?
-
@manwich
Possibly - but then I'm paying to have all 4 tires switched over - at around $25 per tire installed and balanced.I'm hoping I can find a match and just replace the one. If so, much easier and cheaper.
-
@boxer_4 it's also possible they had these laying around in the scrap bin after putting new alloys on another customer's car, and said other customer had bent one of the four steelies, hence Discount Tire only having 3 available, so when this dude came in and said "give me winter tires on the cheapest steelies you have", they upsold the OEM steelies.

Unlikely - I don't have his contact info and the ad is long deleted. Also, he was cleaning out his house/garage in preparation for a move, so he's probably long gong by now. I bought these back in October and it wasn't local. I found a set that fit, in great shape- for a great price. The only caveat was the one mismatched wheel. I've been looking for one since then.

@trivet I just realized I brain farted and read 15" wheel for a 2017 WRX ...
But anyway, 5x114.3 is an extremely common pattern. I'm certain it's an OEM wheel.

That would make sense if it was OEM from something. I just need to find out from WHAT. Then I'm sure I can easily find one.

@trivet https://www.wheel-size.com/pcd/5x114.3/
Start with the sorts of cars that would be driven by people looking to trade up from steelies to cheap knockoff alloysl, but would be more likely to have 17" rims even on basemodels. Crossovers and SUVs.
-
When I had a 2015 wrx I ran Honda CR-V steelies.
-
@trivet These 16s were available on the 08-12 Escapes and Tributes
-
@longtime-lurker
Those are close - but I need 17"I'm fine painting a rim to match if needed too.
-
@trivet Honda CRV.
Not quite, but close! -
Yeah, the CRV one is close, but only a 5 spoke.
I can't believe I can't locate this damn wheel!
-
Wow - still can't find this stupid wheel. I figured it wouldn't be too damn difficult, but I can't find anything to match!
