A Mighty Need, I Have:

Stock 2+2 manual Z32 for a good price. Ugh. At a time in my life where I have neither the space, money, or justifiable reason for such a car.

Pretty ideal spec there. @Nauraushaun and other 300ZX Oppos, please convince me this would be a bad idea even if I was in a position to buy it.
-
@way2blu I’m guessing it’s just from the California sun, but it seems to have an odd white/cream two tone. Could be a botched re-spray after hail damage repair tho
-
It would be a terrible idea. You should do it.
-
@hfv Could just be the lighting, but I agree that it looks white on top and cream on the bottom. The difference seems especially apparent above and below line line on the rear quarter panel, where unlike with the hood, top and bottom should have similar normals on both sides, should be getting similar light.
-
@hfv Agreed on the 'bleaching'. I'm ....curious... Actually, if anything, I'm more curious as to why the sides are darker than what I believe is a hood and hatch that are closer to an OE color. Either way...hmm.... and why no under hood shots?
Oh, and it's a terrible idea. Even the NA version's engine bay is way too cramped with that VG engine. No tinkering room. And it's not red. Like my Dad's two Z32's were. So, absolutely no way is this a good idea.
I have provided sound logic and reasoning you are welcome.
-
@hfv if I remember correctly the pearl white has a lot of metal flake in the paint so it looks different depending on the light
-
@way2blu I’ve always loved the lines of the Z32, this in a TT would be at the top of my list for 90’s cars.
-
@way2blu yes.
-
@way2blu I think this is the one you want though...

@beefchips Hello!
I think the colour issues people have mentioned are due to some panels being resprayed.
Especially in this pic, you can see that the fender+bumper are different to the hood+doors.I hear color matching with white pearls is a pain, could be they just didn't quite get it right. It looks localised to particular panels, suggesting it's not just sun damage.
Looks good otherwise though. Good, complete, unmodified condition. That bumper lip might have some cracks, and the red on the 3rd brake light panel is due to fading in the sun - it should be black. These things can be fixed, as can the antenna - I have replaced an antenna on one of these before.
A shame about the paint, it's a stunning colour usually. Mine had a spoiler, but it was almost identical - manual, 2+2 t-top non-turbo. I don't love the tan interior, seems really obvious that some parts they didn't bother doing in tan and left as black.
Looks well priced at 5k -

damn nice Z. shame about the colour haha.

I just assume every single one of these basket of baskets carrying a myriad of basket cases.
Fortunately, the problems are usually in the same spot:
Somewhere between the headlights and steering wheel.
There are few engine bays from that period with worse conditions for working / getting tools in / keeping your hand-skin in tact.
-
@way2blu 2+2 is the better body style for Z32s IMO. Pure two seaters are for nerds.
I know you think now isn't the time in your life to buy it, but that's the devil talking to you. There is nothing wrong with owning three or more cars when you're in your 20s. At that price, a Z32 is at worst going to hold value and at best appreciate, barring wrecking the hell out of it.
