Dry January?
-
I don't even know why I tried this year. Anybody make it so far?
-
@gettingoldercarguy nope, failed within the first hour
-
@gettingoldercarguy Well I admit had a couple cans on Saturday so not totally dry. Maybe moist January?
-
Well I dont drink so yeah that is an easy thing to accomplish lol. I look at it as drinking costs money and provides me no benefit, same as smoking. I will happily eat myself to death though!
-
There was a day or two in there I didn't drink…

Now where did those deep fried Kit Kats go?"
Same boat, buddy.

My wife suggested it to me this year, purely from a cost standpoint (I live near waaayyy to make craft breweries). Her parents always leave beer in the garage fridge when they come over (child care, COVID allowed), and when I'm down there detailing it gets hard to not have a GB (garage beer).

I normally don't drink much, but I've been imbibing more frequently this month.

Only during the week. When the weekend comes it's on like Donkey Kong.
-
I’m dry, but I’ve had maybe 10 drinks in my life, so a dry January isn’t exactly unusual for me.
-
@gettingoldercarguy I do a dry week every month when I’m on call.
I am however on day 780 of a very successful no shave November. -
@gettingoldercarguy very wet January over here
-
Local breweries are counting on my support.
-
I barely drink, but if we'd had something on hand that I would drink on Wednesday I definitely would have.
-
Last year, I tried going dry from January to July in hopes it would help me lose some weight for my wedding. March hits, Covid hits, weddings postponed, and I ditched that bag so fast.

Me too!

I don't drink, but my wife is doing Dry January. She's still doing it, but it's been hard for her.
-
@gettingoldercarguy I thought you were talking precipitation.
Nope, I took a swan dive off the wagon without a life preserver.
-
No. We've done whole 30 every January the last few years, so typically we do have a dry January, but not this year. Having a Tuesday night Blue Moon while making sure the infant sleeps so my wife can sleep
-
Certainly looking that way here:
https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/434441/far-north-in-desperate-need-of-rainOh wait, you meant booze? Yes, I'm pretty sure there's been days this year that I've gone at least 18hrs without fortification.
-
@gettingoldercarguy Didn't even try, but I am cutting back on booze volume, and I'm doing pretty good on the diet so far. Purchasing was WAY up in 2020, so I've settled in to a 'quality over quantity' method for my daily drams.
Slainte!
-
Not necessarily alcohol related, but I've had an extra large Froster every day for the past month.
I'm going to die of diabeetus.

I did it in October. I've cut way back after being witness to my mother-in-law's husband (she remarried later in life) drinking, on average, 7 liters of whiskey/week. Now, if I have a 6 pack/month, that's a lot.
