If I were to import a French car, it would be a Citroen XM...

@manwich Yes! And an Alpine!
-
@manwich I love those cars. Is the cost of entry cheaper than a DS?

I'm in Canada, so I have no idea. I've never seen one on the road over here.
Hell, when I was in Paris a couple of years ago, I don't recall seeing any on the road there either as it's probably considered to be too big and too thirsty by most Paris city dwellers. -
@manwich I'll bet they're one of the cheaper ways to get a hydropneumatic Citroen. I'd consider one.

Much.
There's a fully working if a little tired one for sale near me for NZ$2k (US$1400) I've been keeping an eye on, whereas equivalent condition DS's would be north of NZ$30k. Or if a big hydropneumatic Citroen's your poison (and it sure is mine), CX's are worth a bit more than XMs but still way less than a DS.
-
@manwich Love the '70s/'80s future look of these and the BX.
-
@distraxi
I'll admit to liking the CX better than the XM but there are no Hydropnuematic Citroens I don't like.
-
@manwich Lame, I'd snag a turbodiesel Renault Fuego.

They probably already passed their cheapest level and will only go up in price like older models but they are still quite affordable.
For example, this running and driving 2.0 turbo petrol not far from here for 850€.

Unfortunately, yes. They are definitely appreciating in value.
-
@whoistheleader Very much so cheaper, I'd think!
-
@manwich Those seats look like giant slabs of butter that would hold your body in utter comfort. Great looking car.

There was a man who live nearby whose daily driver is a light blue Citroën BX. He also had a Citroën Dyane too, but it was kept under tarp all the time until he died around 6 years ago, after his wife died a few months before. Apparently their children didn't want the cars, so both of those cars were sold.
