LEGO 40448 Vintage Car Review
-
LEGOs latest free set(or well was, it sold out quick) is the Vintage car. Reminds me of a Thunderbird with some Chevy Belair or Biscayne.
Car is in teal with white surfboards to give it a 2 tone appearance.
It's a big car, consisting of 189 pieces. Two minifigures are included. Looks like they are straight of out the 50's A
footballbasketball player guy wearing a sports jacket and his girlfriend wearing a leather jacket and pink pants with matching sunglassesHe is on the Squids basketball team
Front of the car consists of a large bumper. Wish LEGO still made chrome, it would of been perfect with teal and chrome.
Modern LEGO car safety has not been invented yet, nothing like a sharp corner of windshield resting on your feet
Continuing on the dangerousness of this car is the hood ornament. It's an upside down ice skate!
Yep, dangerous
Its a great model, but the only issue is the surfboard side panels fall off easily. Just a bump and they fall off.
So I replaced it with a 1/6 white tile. IDK if it makes it better or leave the side of car plain?
Goes perfect with my old truck that I made using my bricks. Built it to look like the one in the #40083 Christmas truck

Sorry @Rusty-Vandura , that's my only 4 skinny wheels

I actually love how Lego repurposes parts in different ways.
I would like the white tile more if if lined up with the fin. I might try to replace the white side 1x2 side piece with a gray one. Might look like an exhaust.

@brickman Somehow I'm offended by the upside down windshield piece. Lego has some flat windshields, but I guess the are probably a bit too tall for this application, and might look Model T era rather than '50s era.
-
@ttyymmnn Or a 1x2 grill piece.

@brickman Nice review! Thanks for providing the closeups. I agree chrome would have went well with the teal.

I like that! A couple of studs might look good too.

@brickman I just got a big order in, and even though I spent more than the required amount to get that model free, I didn't get it. I'm a little ticked, but I don't love the model, so I reckon I'll just let it go.
@Rusty-Vandura I have a bunch of those skinny wheels, if you're looking for some.

@shop-teacher Darn! I hope LEGO rereleases it. Usually they run a Gift With Purchase for a whole month, not just a few days.
