@danny-korecki It is picking up quite a lot of wind noise. You may need to find a more sheltered spot for the microphone.

@danny-korecki , the mic seems to do ok. About the right sensitivity for driving.
My wife loves her 2016 Mini.
Alas, Mini no longer wants her as a customer. She is a big fan of manual transmissions, and isn't along for the ride with the corporate "take rate" argument.
She has already decided to continue with an old Mini until she can't stand the upkeep hassles. After that, probably some Toyota hybrid of some sort.
Her feeling is that if you can't enjoy the experience of shifting, you might as well be driving hybrid.
I don't really believe Mini will stick around much longer now that they've already purged the dealerships.

@danny-korecki Are you using one of those dead kitten things? I got terrible wind noise like that too. Got an external mic, taped it up in a dead kitten and mounted in the bumper back by the exhaust and it sounds super clear.

@tripper nah it is just a foam cover for wind noise. I will look into this "dead kitten" lol

@Danny-Korecki Where was the microphone mounted for your video? To cut out wind noise, I try to mount the mic on the back end of the car, ideally tucked up behind the lip of the trunk on my Miata, or clipped to the rear license plate frame on my R32. No dead kitten required.

@italianjobr53 well i think part of the problem is the JCW GP is rather quiet unless on throttle, so I will retry with my M3 before

@drvantraveler Aren't they bringing back the manual transmissions in the S models this year?

Apologies to @Danny-Korecki for off topic comment by me. I just thought about how much more fun that JCW GP would be with a manual. I did hear that Mini would bring back some of the manual tranny cars. However, my wife requires AWD, and manual isn't coming back there.

@drvantraveler Ahhh, I got ya. Sorry for derailing this topic, wasn't sure myself as news is all over the board.

For the GoPro, I would recommend what others are saying with the repositioning of the mic. Could try something new and put it behind the intake? Not a lot of airflow but cool "wooooosh" intake noises?

I've been on the fence about setting up a mic with my GoPro. What's your set up? I assume you had to buy that adapter cable that costs upwards to $70 exclusively on GoPro just for it to work.

Hmmm yes, the engine is made out of engine #GritMeetsGrease

@danny-korecki Can you clip it to the inside of the license plate light area? This is how I mount mine on my Miata:

                                              6ECE01C3-DF65-4014-A1BD-B6B3D8D21841.jpeg

I initially had it clipped the other way around, with the microphone on the outside surface. It picked up a bunch of wind noise at speed like that, but just turning it around like pictured above made a world of difference.
