Onwards and Oppowards... Hello!
-
Hello Hyphenated Opponauts! With a new beginning arising, I figured maybe I should start participating instead of just lurking.
I may be familiar to the Oppo Hunt '20 crowd. I took part over on Insta, and had an absolute blast of a time, placing 7th overall. With that in mind, not wanting to miss future OPPO-rtunities (I'm sorry) (no I'm not), I wanted to hop in. I've been missing my car group fix for a while and am eager to see what The Hyphen has to offer.
My left hand and my Little Vibe are decently well known to the few that already know of me, but allow me to expand. Little Vibe is no coincidence, and in fact it has a bigger sibling.
This is my 2004 Pontiac Vibe. Supercharged, modified, and mine. She's my first car and I've had her almost a decade. I'll reserve some details for an anniversary post, but through the 150k miles I've driven in this car, it's more than just a car to me. I've gone on some great adventures with the car, it's been my place to talk and sort stuff out, and with it I've met my best friends, and become a community leader of GenVibe, the Pontiac Vibe Owners & Enthusiasts group. I've touted this little car's meaning to me to the point that Jalopnik's David Tracy took notice...
That said my interests are well beyond little silver hatchbacks with conflicting parents. I'm interested in just about anything, and like following the auto industry at large. I'll admit an affinity for General Motors stuff, in part because I follow their news so much, but I can find something to like from any manufacturer. On the Youtubes I follow the likes of Hoovie, Tavarish, TFL, Bad Obsession Motorsports, Hello Road, and more.
I hail from SE Michigan where I'm a mechanical engineer for not-an-OEM-or-a-supplier. I enjoy road trips, and plan for my next car to be the roadtrip champion, where I can then let the Vibe relax a bit, and be experimented upon with some of the crazy ideas I have for it.
Finger's crossed for a strong future here!

That Vibe looks pretty sweet. I dig the Ponota/Toytiac foglight covers on it!
-
Hello! Supercharged vibe you say?????
-
Welcome! There are a lot of us who are from or have lived in SE MI. Youโre in good company. But then you knew that. I lived in AA for 9 years myself.

Hey! @KITT222 ! I love seeing all the lurkers who have decided to join the fray over here on The Hyphen!
Glad to have you with us! Check out the User Guide if you need an overview before you start your posting endeavours!
-
@kitt222 Welcome! Looks like you even have the perfect mascot for the next oppo rally! Like rallydarkstrike says it's really awesome to see lurkers coming out and posting!
-
@cb Thanks! I make those 'Ponyota/Toyotiac' decals for my group. With my headlight retrofit the fog lamps are pretty much useless, and they have glass lenses. I used to have some polycarbonate covers, but one got lost somewhere, so they're covered for now until I find a good, anti-fog solution!
-
Indeed! It's fun, and makes this car usable with the AC on.
-
@kitt222 @Dr-Zoidberg needs to see these.
-
@kitt222 that sure looks like a lot more fun than our base model, no doubt.
-
@dr-zoidberg Mine started out as a normal base model, so I can verify: Much more fun
-
Welcome!
I love that front plate!
-
