Reddit’s Just Rolled into the Shop is a veritable cornucopia of the many wonders and oddities of shop lyfe. You never know what’s gonna roll in. Here’s what caught my eye this week.

"I had diagnosed this car a couple months back and recommended the axle but the customer denied the repair cause it was too much and he could deal with a lil vibration lol"
Photo: Vaultboy5132
"...One ignition cable was damaged by a Marder (I guess it's marauder in english), resulting in sporadic loss of ignition on one cylinder. Customer thought he could "limp" home on three cylinders, but after about 300 kilometers on the autobahn he couldn't stand it any more, drove off the Bahn and to our shop..."

Obligatory brake post

Thanks. Makes it feel like Oppo again.
-
There are some...interesting anecdotes in that arrow thread.

Ah yes. Now this is home. I can see the carnage so much more clearly now!
-
@just-jeepin Those "interesting" anecdotes remind me of something really stupid I did recently. I'll post that story in about 10 years. Don't forget to remind me then.

Missing photo from boom lift post actually lending perspective to how high up he was driving it around the yard. Billboard for Nudie's Honky Tonk twice weekly Burlesque was cut off if any of you were looking for an interesting nightspot in Nashville.
@Urambo-Tauro Thanks doubly this week for the JRitS "187, We've got a Kinja Killer on the loose" edition.
-
@Urambo-Tauro Wow, that crossbow bolt, haha!
-
I am grateful to Urambo for continuing this tradition in our new digs...and I am grateful that our new home handles this series so much better than Kinja ever did...
-
@SilentbutnotreallyDeadly It does seem to be coming through pretty well!

How so, if I may ask? I'm glad to hear that it's looking better on your end, but I gotta admit- I honestly found Kinja easier to use in creating these posts. Kinja and I got along really well for putting these together, but I had a challenging time trying to efficiently create a similar result here.
-
@urambo-tauro I was wondering how it was going to work for you. The main thing for me is that all the images loaded quickly and without slowing down the reading experience. Plus the links work just fine. Kinja used to butcher Imgur videos really well and the loading as you scrolled made the experience...slow. Really slow. I was able to extract all of the hilarious goodness from your work in a third of the time it took me even just last week. And it was practical to actually follow most of the links instead of just picking a few.
The only thing I missed from this new version was the sassy titles for each entry! -
Are you a mobile user, by chance? Desktop here.
Kinja never gave me any trouble with Imgur; it always embedded automatically and flawlessly for me. And I could never figure out how to embed Reddit posts, so Imgur became my go-to for re-uploading Reddit videos. The only problem I really had with Imgur was that I can't seem to upload vids with sound, so I only re-uploaded vids that were originally silent. If the original video had sound, I just selected a screenshot to share and encouraged y'all to visit the source to watch it in full.
Unfortunately, I can't seem to embed Imgur here, so I had to resort to screenshots again. No YouTube, Gfycat, or Facebook videos made my list this week, so I still have yet to try their embeddability...
As for the "sassy titles", are you referring to the inset link boxes that were at the end of each entry? I always liked how Kinja automatically generated those. All I had to do was post the link, and it formatted a nice little preview.
-
One long-term problem we'll face here: Kinja stored images we linked, this forum won't.
So, for example, any Craigslist post (cough, why you looking at me?) will be problematic once the vehicle is sold, whereas today Kinja keeps the photos forever (well, until end of the month or whenever this all ends) (will be interesting to see if the images themselves linger, since they might all be lumped together) (I should track an image and see what happens) (running out of excuses for parentheticals).
-
That first one is...yep. Shop life
-
@just-jeepin Yeah I really liked how Kinja automatically stored the images so I never had to worry about hotlinking. Thanks for reminding me; gonna have to be more careful about that here.
-
@urambo-tauro i'd never thought coke would do any damage to brakes. have to see for myself.

@urambo-tauro Moved to Best of OPPO.

@davesaddiction I'm honored! Thank you!

@urambo-tauro Thanks for making OPPO awesome!
