      https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/health/inslee-to-ban-indoor-gatherings-and-dining-plus-issue-more-covid-19-restrictions-for-washington-state-industry-sources-say/

Washington broke its record for most new Covid-19 cases in a day, and much like most of the US is trending in the wrong direction. As such, the above article has led the the closure of my wife's current employer. My wife has had three jobs since March and now all three have closed.

I'm actually not here to rail against measures to limit the spread of Covid-19 just because it has affected me personally and therefore is unfair! Rawr! However, I am exercising my rights to say, "Well, darnit."

      Thanks for reading.

If only people would do as asked, maybe this wouldn't be happening. It's worse out here, where the morons in northern Idaho have now overwhelmed their local hospital system, so they are streaming in westward.

Condolences to wifey, while she is off, I hope she can easily receive the assistance both of you have paid into for years.

Maybe the most irritating (but not surprising) aspect of the pandemic, aside from the contrarian edgelords who oppose everything, is the lack of federal leadership and consistent meaningful stimulus - they'd rather force in a politically charged SC appointee than try to help actual people, while American stimulus efforts trail other rich nations as a function of GDP, and American casualty rates remain shameful. Oh, those brave ones standing up for truth and justice.

That sucks! It's a really hard time be in anything hospitality/events/travel/tourism related. We've been frequenting our two favorite local restaurants as much as possible, to do our part to help them survive.

@dr-zoidberg I'm sorry to hear about this, but glad of your attitude.

Everytime I read about a ballet studio owner, or swim coach who is decrying the restrictions simply because it affects their life, it annoys the hell out of me.

I hope your wife can find something soon.

My wife hasn't been back to work yet, her boss is just waiting for a vaccine or some kind of major all clear. I had to switch to this fiber optic install crap, I don't really like it. I was hoping I would but it's just a rush all day and it doesn't pay well. I was hoping the operators were paid maybe ten buck more an hour but they don't amazingly. I guess I will go back to shows when that starts again... whenever that is!! I guess we just have to embrace the suck until it gets better.

@Dr-Zoidberg I haven't had a sit-down restaurant meal since January. I miss it terribly. The wife and I don't really have any regular vices so it was kind of our few-times-a-month thing to go eat somewhere. And I've always valued what servers and staff have to put up with, so we always tip well. We've been very much anti-spreaders and kept to ourselves or only the closest of family since this all went down. A few of our family are immune compromised so we've had to be extremely careful and that means no unnecessary exposure, coupled with the economy, equals no restaurants. It's gotta be hard to be in that sector of service industry right now. I think you 100% can say "well darnit". that sucks. A lot

Husky Energy either directly or indirectly has been our source of income for the last 10 years or more and our Alberta government passed out all kinds of tax breaks and money to the oil sector this year. A smaller company just bought out Husky and will be absorbing them and kicking half their employees to the curb. So one Calgary based company, bought another, and will removing half the staff is a city already struggling with industry drop off and COVID. Cool. This will lead to it being harder for me to get a job in industry, and my wife to do training. So I feel for your wife and toss out my own "darnit". Gotta find the good where we can these days. I've enjoyed being home and around my wife, we get along well so it's been kinda of nice. You guys aren't alone in this. Thanks for venting, and for being a vehicle for my own venting.

                  Most unfortunate.

If she's interested in driving to Blaine to kill herself for 12 hours at a time in a production facility, 4 days per week, I may know of one.

That sucks man. She seems really resourceful and surely won't give up, but it must get really disheartening.

@Dr-Zoidberg Man, that sucks bud....these times are unprecedented and I worry for all you Oppos in the US, it's getting pretty bad down there. Numbers are starting to rise up here too again, but nowhere to the extent you're dealing with šŸ˜ž

Thank you for your sympathies, everyone. It's just been an annoying clutter of first world problems as I know it's been for everyone. Went from feeling prepared a few weeks ago, now looking at another income shock and a leaking roof. Ugh. But there are people out there who can't even pay rent right now so while "it could be worse" is not a fix, it definitely could be worse!

@rallydarkstrike I have a friend in Winnipeg who says things are getting pretty bad there, and they are undergoing restrictions, too.
I'd expect bad numbers to start flaring up on the prairies, and for Alberta to maybe doctor some results.

@fintail Yeah, certain parts of the company are getting a lot worse...Quebec and Ontario, for some....the 'Atlantic Bubble' has been safe-ish out my way for the most part, but cases are going up here in Nova Scotia now and New Brunswick already saw a case spike...

Sorry to hear that. I think the new administration is going to propose a short lock-down with a proper stimulus package so people can eat and pay rent while waiting for the lockdown to stem the spread and the vaccine to come into play.

That sucks. I’m really hoping we figure out some sort of stimulus deal here soon, because we need to slow this thing down without bankrupting people.
