Real wood trim incoming

Since I am currently bored off my tits, I have ordered replacement interior trim for my Volvo. Gone will be the cheap(ish) looking aluminum console and in it's place will be some lovely matte finished walnut. The theme continues over to the doors with the switchplates getting the same treatment. I haven't ordered the rear switchplate pieces since I want to see if it looks okay on the front doors first. It will either look great, or it will look like way too much brown in combination with the beechwood interior. But change is good, the parts are non-refundable and I have nothing but time.

@sovande Matte finish wood is one of the few good trends to come out of recent design. I've also had it in my past couple MBs, it looks great in the wagon (especially if one likes brown):

@liam It's stock Volvo trim for an S60 Inscription model. I ordered it from a dealership in Georgia who happened to have a coupon.

@sovande That looks great! I bet it wasn't cheap! I spent so much on the "brushed aluminum" trim for the E46 that its still in the package...

@tripper Thanks. And you are correct, it was not cheap. This will be my second Volvo with real wood trim. I swapped in the Nordic Oak in my C30 as well. It was practically free by comparison.

Matte is so much better than the high gloss wood finish. That just looks like plastic.

@sovande I’ve considered remaking some of the faux wood bits in my Eagle out of real wood at some point. This has just cemented it.

@sn4cktimes I actually replaced all the wood trim in a Mercedes 190e I used to own. It was all flat panels so it was pretty easy!

@sovande Mine will require some pre-planing and off shaped cuts, but I think it'll be possible. I have SO much other stuff to do before I ever get to that point though.
