NFL Open Thread, New Oppo Edition
-
I hope it's cool for me to keep posting this thread here. I've posted a final one over at old Oppo and it'll show up around noon eastern time. That one is slightly different, but I did copy some of it to post here.
Today my Broncos are visiting the Raiders at the
for the first time. The Raiders are the better team but I think it’s a straight toss-up. It looks like the Broncos will have almost everybody back today, and when they are healthy they’re capable of hanging with any team. Hopefully this week they decide to play some offense before the 4th quarter begins. The Raiders just haven’t been consistent enough for me to say they definitely win it, but they probably will.
Today’s NFL schedule is all F’D up because of the Masters on CBS. All 5 of the early games are on Fox, and there are more late afternoon games than morning games. Here in Denver our Fox affiliate is starting us off with Buccaneers at Panthers. I thought Tom Brady would be hitting his stride around now, but that was a BAD loss to the Saints. I could see the Panthers sneak in and hit them while they’re down. I think if the Panthers get an early lead they will probably win. The late game will be Seahawks-Rams (I’ll pick Seahawks here by a nose), but despite that being a good game to watch, none of us here will be watching it because it’ll be up against the Broncos-Raiders game over on CBS. Sunday Night Football has Ravens-Patriots for us. I would expect the Ravens to win, but every time I think the Ravens are going to handle someone they just don’t. Monday Night will be the Vikings at the Bears. Can they both lose this game? I think they’ll try.
The rest:
Texans at Browns - I fully expect the Texans to beat the Browns. The Browns don’t seem to know how to win games against teams they should beat.
Eagles at Giants - No. The NFC East should be revoked.
Unspecified Football Team at Lions - Is Alex Smith starting? Then I’ll take the Team. This is yet another game the Lions should win but they won’t.
Jaguars at Packers - This should be a straight up murder by the Packers. I’ll be shocked if it isn’t a blowout.
Chargers at Dolphins - Too bad this is up against my game, I’d really enjoy watching this one. Both rookie QB’s are really fun to watch. The Dolphins are an all around better team in my opinion, so I’d say they have the edge.
Bills at Cardinals - Wow. Another really good matchup. I don’t know how to call this one.
Bengals at Steelers - On paper, this looks like the Steelers should have an easy win. It looks like a trap game to me. I think they manage to win, though.
49ers at Saints - Gotta be the Saints, I’d think.
Falcons, Cowboys, Chiefs, and Jets are on their bye.
Normally I would schedule this post to pop up around noon, but if there's a way to do that here I'm too dense to figure it out. I'm really bad at any new technology, or just technology in general if I'm honest. It's probably staring me right in the face and I can't see it.
