Image: Just Rolled into the Shop subreddit

Reddit’s Just Rolled into the Shop is a veritable cornucopia of the many wonders and oddities of shop lyfe. You never know what’s gonna roll in. Here’s what caught my eye this week.

...I’m a guy in Texas that just lost his entire shop. Woke up at five am to something exploding. Walked outside to see this happening. Lost 12 bikes, 35 years of accumulated tools and parts, and all the cool stuff my lady won’t let keep in the house. But the house is ok, so that’s nice.

It was beautiful two days ago. A fire rolled into the shop.

[If I ever find the thief] I’m gonna stick my breaker bar down his throat and torque to spec.

Just rolled into the shop to find it all gone. LOCK IT UP EVEN IF YOU WORK ALONE. Happy 2021 to me I guess.

C/S gear box makes lots of noise in low gear.
Along with the diff housing being beyond wrecked 1 output shaft was snapped and the other was twisted.

      Thoroughly impressed by this

that shit in the heater core felt like sand. we've had a few journeys and 200s with the same problem.

Dodge Journey heater core doubles as a coolant filter

Tried to get a name. Customer said don't worry, took the filter, and headed there immediately. Lol. I'd hate to be that front shop right now.

"C/S: My car is leaking oil. I just had the engine replaced 3 weeks ago." It's leaking? You don't say?

...just some crackheads that live in town’s car

Got three used tires put on, you can only imagine the inside. Also had no pin in the hitch so set it in the back seat.

Yeah it's fine, it just slammed on the ground from about 2 feet up

This is why you get your lifts inspected on a regular basis. This one hasn't been certified in years. The cable snapped when it was about 2 feet off the ground before it was high enough for the locks to engage. No one was hurt.

2004 Tacoma, this shame covered by axlenut dust-cap, customer blamed us for not finding this during a safety inspection after buying used car

PRO-TIP: Cross-threaded the axle nut? Cut a couple inches off and use a ton of red loc-tite

      Obligatory tire post

Came in only for an oil change. 2 tires were split like this on the side wall down to the steel bands. Customer declined new tires and left with only the oil change. Let the service writer know and the service manager know and let them handle it from there

@urambo-tauro The fellow who had his tools stolen was this 🤏 close to making a torque-to-yield joke.

@urambo-tauro Oh ho ho. I know that destroyed coil/plug well enough. That there is a 05-10 Odyssey. Other J-series Hondas (as well as 07-13 Fits) had their fair share of self changing plugs. IMG_5255.JPG IMG_5340.JPG

@Urambo-Tauro Thanks for doing this. I always learn something. This week, it's lift safety and professional installation and inspection as eventually I'd like to get a two-post at my current house.

OTOH, I had a four-post lift professionally installed at my old house and those idiots incorrectly routed one of the cables so it was slowly being abraded on a large bolt.

                  ...meh...
