Neighbour asked me the other day to clean his work van.
-
Things have been hard for trades in 2020.
Neighbour is giving up plumbing work for a while and going to be doing some parcel delivery as Covid restrictions have made it little more difficult for tradesmen.
It was a little grimy on the outside, usual winter road stuff, inside was muddy, dusty, etc...
I've tried keeping the details out the pics.
Interior.
Exterior.
Exterior after a snow foaming in degreaser, snow foamed and washed, rinsed, rewash, rinsed, allowed to dry while I did the interior, later went over the van with Adam's Guard and Gloss to give it a shine.
Interior door cards and shuts.
I didn't get a before picture of these door shuts but they were awful, dust, tar, plaster, iron fallout, etc...
Floor scrubbed, treated with a rubber liner restorer and then cleaned again with an antibacterial cleaner.
The pictures are a little sporadic and mixed but I like how it came up. Had it for about two and a half hours. ![van 100121 137227368_10214919228174205_8314301798821926644_n.jpg]

@svend incredible work as always. My back hurts for you.
-
Night and day difference. It went from awful to very presentable.
Excellent work, as usual. -
@snakesm13
To be honest. My back hurts a little too.
I finished work, did some shopping for a couple who are isolating, had a beer, took the shopping to them. Told the owner of the van I'd get on it.
As I washed the van I also washed the other neighbours AMG A35. Left it to dry and got back on with the van, finished it and now sat having finished a Chinese takeaway, thinking of having another beer.
It's Double Maxim, Brown Ale. -
@onlytwowheels
Cheers mate. It turned out not to be such an easy clean as the grim was baked in and some are the areas the clearcote had stained yellow.
So the door shuts took just as much time a the rest of the van to do. -
@svend Never underestimate the difference clean sills make to a car.
-
@svend I need a neighbor like you. Looks good as new!
-
@taylor-martin
Though I didn't shampoo the seats. the owner was much more than happy with it. -
Incredible work, it went from an old work van to good as new from the pictures!
-
@mm54
Thanks. She looks good now.
I just looked and hadn't done it since September 2019 when I had to deep clean the paint ready for the sign writing to be put on.
14th September 2019, fallout remover.
Body completely free of scratches, fallout, tar, hand polished to remove any shadows from the previous signs, panel wiped and left as just bear paint.
The owner said the following week, the sign writers had never had to not clean a vehicle to prepare it for signs until now.
I was quite pleased with that. -
@svend Very nice. Do you have a product you prefer for removing tar?
-
@davesaddiction
I've tried and used several tar removers over the years but the one I use is AutoFinesse ObliTARate. It is absolutely fantastic. Effortless tar and glue removal. -
@svend Thanks!
-
Nice, that was a dirty van!
-
@zipfuel
Ye', she looks much better now. -
@svend great job.

@svend said in Neighbour asked me the other day to clean his work van.:

This part fascinates me - here in Vancouver, trades were killing it in 2020! Everyone was in quarantine and finally had the time for all those home renos they were always putting off...
The plumbers we're hiring for a job can't get around to do the small job we need done because of all the more expensive projects on their plate.
I mean, maybe the fact that our real estate market is no longer based in reality has something to do with it, but still...

@spasoje
Some don't want to risk catching a virus I'm people's homes, some charge too much, some while able to fit bathrooms, kitchens, general plumbing, etc... if they are gas trained and CORGI registered, they can't do boilers, etc... and has to get someone else in for that.
But the main thing I think is people not wanting people from outside their house that they don't know, coming into their homes. -
@pip-bip
Cheers mate. I'm hoping the weather holds out for today so I can get a neighbour's 2009 first gen Nissan Qashqai. -

CORGI registered
Seems safer that way !
-
@jb-boin
Lol. Ye', something like that.
All engineers, plumbers, etc... have to be gas trained and registered before they can commercially repair, install or remove a gas boiler, gas appliance, etc...
