Datsun front bumper progress
-
I finished the front bumper yesterday. I had removed it, pounded out the dents, removed the leftover grommets from the rubber guards then polished and waxed. I’m not sure if I’m going to replace the rubber bumper strips or not, I think it looks better without the guards too. I looked at removing the rear bumper but that would require dropping the gas tank, so I guess that’s a non starter.
This is as far as I got with the back bumper. I’d like to get that divot out but that means probably dropping the gas tank and broken bolts.

Looks really good (and a huge improvement from before!)

@mm54 I had gorilla tape holding one of the bumper guards on before. I was sick of looking at it.

@highlander This car has a great snout!

@highlander lookin good!
To fill the holes where the overrunners mounted, I’ve used stainless carriage bolts that I machined down the square shoulder and polished the head on a buffer...might be an option if you’re gonna delete the rubber bumpers. -
@classicdatsundebate yeah I’ve been thinking about that, bought some SS cap screws and they looked worse than having a hole there. I might look for some carriage bolts now, the holes kind of bug me.

@sn4cktimes I love the snout part. If this wasn't such a nice original condition car I'd put a BRE spoiler on the front.
-
@highlander It's just so pretty. I don't know if even a kit car could get away with such a pointy beak nowadays.
