Paint correction begins!
-
Gave the corvette a wash today and started to hit the paint with a buffing wheel and compound. My combo and noob-technique might not be getting everything out but you can easily see the improvement. Most of the light scratches are coming out and the milky surface oxidization is coming off revealing the nicer metallic red underneath! There of course are some deeper scratches from 30 years and 94k miles of use that no amount of buffing could get out so it’s easy to not let perfection be the enemy of “good enough.” One door and one fender down, the rest of the car to go.
All these photos post wash pre buff.

@Urambo-Tauro under all the oxidation it’s much more red than burgundy and I’m very glad about that!

@Bandit
Very nice! -
I want my next to be either a late C3 or C4 so I can get my hands on one prior to the values going up. Looking at this is really making me consider the second option. Looks really impressive.
