How many States in the US have you visited?
-
@Just-Jeepin's post of Travel Goals got me thinking, how many states have I been to. It can be categorized a couple of ways, how many have I touched soil in, and how many have I spent at least one overnight stay in.
If I go with overnight, it's 35. If I go with "drove through", it's 42.
The eight I've never been to in any capacity? Alaska, Arkansas, Montana, Idaho, North Dakota, Oregon, Oklahoma, and Rhode Island. And yes, I have been to DC. Looks I have a good CO, UT, ID, MT, ND, SD, NE (eww) road trip loop to plan.
-
@Huzer my wife's hard and fast rule is that you must have done something of significance in each state. Drive through didn't count. Bathroom stops don't count. Airport transfers dont count
-
@Huzer 43 (plus DC), and I believe I've spent time / had boots on the ground in all of those... Never been to HI, AK, MI, WI, SD, ND, or MN. I'm sure I'll get to the rest eventually; I seem to travel around the US for work or goodness knows what reasons semi-frequently.

Some?

@AkioOhtori you simply copied the
T-MobileAT&T coverage map. -
@Huzer not as many
27 i think -
@Huzer 5. Washington, Oregon, Montana, Hawaii and California.
-
@HammerheadFistpunch Most of mine were Air Force/work related. I had free reign to travel to any ACC USAF base, but missed out on a few. I did make it to Lajes (Portugal) and Keflavik (Iceland) though, so that makes up for missing out on a few in the states.
-
@CarsOfFortLangley I've even managed two provinces! Ontario/Quebec, lots of time spent in both given their proximity to my hometown in NY.
We were supposed to go to a hockey camp in Kelowna before COVID shut the down a couple of years ago.
-
NY/FL/HI
-
@Huzer I'll count driven through because there are plenty states I don't mind leaving quickly.
Florida, Vermont, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon.
I need to up my Canada trips, too: I still have four provinces and three territories to visit!
-
Looks like 19 for me. I’m not counting the trips as a kid I had no clue where we were.
-
Me, 35 so far. My family has been to about 30.
-
@Huzer Fourteen, but I've only lived in four WA, ID, IL, FL. I'm living diagonally.
-
@Huzer
32 States that I have spent at least a day doing things. Not bad for a Canadian?
-
@Huzer
States visited 17
States traveled through, no overnights. 6
Canadian Provinces visited 3 -

And now I'm a jerk because I changed it haha
-
@Huzer Looks like only 32, plus DC and Puerto Rico - there's a lot in the middle that I just haven't gotten to, basically almost all of the Plains states, and, of course, Alaska and Hawaii (the freak states) - also done 4 Canadian provinces and 2 Mexican states, if that counts
-
By @HammerheadFistpunch's criteria, 28.
- Indiana
- Michigan
- Kentucky
- Tennessee
- Louisiana
- Florida
- Massachusetts
- New York
- South Carolina
- North Carolina
- Illinois
- Iowa
- Missouri
- Kansas
- Texas
- Georgia
- Colorado
- California
- Oregon
- Washington
- Wisconsin
- Ohio
- West Virginia
- Pennsylvania
- Arkansas
- Mississippi
- Alabama
- New Jersey
-
@Huzer Not counting one-night stays (or the few hours I spent in Nebraska for a MINI service dept. appt.) and places I may have been / gone with my parents when I was younger and don't remember anything about them, then it's 23.

I don't know how/why I'd make it back east to visit Rhode Island. I guess I could visit my niece that goes to school at Quinnipiac, and drive over to RI from there.
-
@AkioOhtori those AT&T unlimited plans with free HBO Max make it hard not to switch to the blue.
-
@Huzer I'm planning to run up to Rhode Island weekend to check out a used camper, haven't been there in almost a decade, and that was just for a few nights business trip (though, this will be even shorter, ideally there for only a few hours to do the deal, or confirm that a deal is not happening).
-
@Huzer 47, including drive-thrus but not airport stops. I'd been to Miami airport a bunch of times but didn't count Florida until I left the airport and stayed overnight at a hotel. Likewise, I've been to the Atlanta airport a bunch, but since I've driven across a corner of Georgia, I'm counting it.
I'm missing Alaska, Hawaii, and somehow Alabama.

I'm up to 5 provinces! I really hope to be able to make it back up there again in the near future.
