Whatcha wanna know about car camping in a Chevy Camaro?

Hi Oppo I’m gonna be making a little how-to video on car camping in the Camaro (also applicable to other coupes & sedans with a trunk pass-through setup.) What would you like to know about it? I have some “overland” (breakover angle willing) trips planned this summer and will be camping in the car frequently.

Lmk your questions and I’ll address them in a writeup here on Oppo later this week!

@GibbsEmphasis Do you have a tent as well or plan on sleeping only in the car?

@CarsOfFortLangley A few reasons:

• $$$
• Sleeping in the car is plenty comfortable
• Rooftop tents mess up the aero and I’m too proud of my fuel economy & range I can achieve
• Higher center of mass is bad for handling
• Camaros’ roofs don’t accept any of the usual mounting systems, and the center roof panel isn’t load-bearing (I can warp it with a single finger’s pressure)
• Removing the tent each rallycross day would be a pain
• If I really wanted to sleep outside the car, a bed roll or hammock would be fine
• “less is more” is my preferred way of doing things (also see those “2WD” decals on the mud flaps hahaha)

Believe me, I’ve researched this a lot. The only benefit of an RTT over my current setup is that it’d get more engagement on social media. I’d rather just slap on some bright orange recovery boards and some “mountains & trees” decals at that point.

@BeaterGT Just in the car for now! I’m considering a hammock as an extra option but I think the Camaro will be fine.

@CarsOfFortLangley It definitely looks good though! If the aero/sound penalties aren’t too bad I might actually look into one if I’m wanting for storage at some point.
