Yesterday, the Italian Nonnadonna gave us a hint of her latest displeasure via a smoking ceremony spread across the paddock that smelt strongly of burning oil.

I knew she was due for an oil change and had all the stuff to do it so it was time to make the offering...
      IMG_20210109_161701887.jpg

Naturally, this wasn't straightforward. The oil drain is behind the rear left wheel and has limited clearance for a 17mm spanner.
      IMG_20210109_155434690.jpg

The limited arc available and the leverage required to undo the damn thing resulted in a blood sacrifice (again).
      IMG_20210109_155442624.jpg

Access to the filter is equally daft. Mere millimetres clearance between the engine and body means a bloody tight fit. But it behaved...

      IMG_20210109_155857362_HDR.jpg

Whilst I waited for the oil to drain out I fitted a new hour meter (the OE digital Honeywell unit borked itself in a nod to Lord Lucas) of the old mechanical variety so I can properly manage the supplication cycle from here on in.

1.4 litres of new oil later, wheel back on and BOOM...ready to party. The Grillo then proceeded to mulch its way through a half acre of thick weeds like a champion. It's now happily parked up with 0.7 hours on the clock.

      Winner!! For now...

Take the hard road and walk it. Because hedges aren't as soft as they look.

@silentbutnotreallydeadly Nice work. Glad you're still able to get property maintenance done. South-west, mid-west and wheatbelt WA is in total fire ban today. What's the outlook over your way?

This is my favorite Oppo series, the fight to the death between you and that mower!

You are a proof that everything mechanical can be fixed given the time, money, skill and enough blood in you to keep sacrificing it to the gods of repair. Enghino, the ancient Roman god of repair and engineering, required a pint of blood in his honor if you wanted your project to work.

@krustywantout Tame it? No. But I could harpoon it with a crowbar...and how would I cut my grass then?

@musashi66 it's not worth a pint and I'd prefer my sacrifices to be pain free...but Enghino sounds like an acceptable god.

I'd much prefer that death was not part of the equation...but, as M'lady says, what the fuck is it with you and that mower?

Yeah, of all the interesting and cool vehicles on Oppo, this crazy ass lawn mower is my favorite.

@silentbutnotreallydeadly That's not bad. I can't remember when it last rained here. I think it was before Christmas.
