The Super Sport thing has jumped the shark

Chevrolet Avalanche SS. The answer to a question nobody asked. It's even got a spoiler so you know it's fast. -
@Turbineguy-Nom-de-Zoom I don't know, the Avs looked pretty sporty in the last Stanley Cup Finals game.
-
@Turbineguy-Nom-de-Zoom Gotta love fake badges and spoilers.
FWIW, you could get a 62 Impala SS with a 6 cylinder and Powerglide. Having driven that drivetrain combo in a β62 Chevy, I can confirm that itβs neither Super nor Sporty.
-
If it had the surcharged Corvette V8, it would be fun
At least they're finally offering it on the Escalade V next year. What took them so long?
-
@Turbineguy-Nom-de-Zoom That's not factory. Those are just badges that some asshole stuck on.
-
I think there's a truck somewhere underneath all that.

I think the new independent rear suspension design on the latest generation might have been a factor in making the \\V version of the Escalade feasible? Not sure previous models would have been able to work well with that kind of horsepower. @Bandit do you know if this was a factor?

GM never cared about such things
And those trucks are so heavy it wouldn't be a problem anyway
-
@GibbsEmphasis no idea, suspension design is witchcraft

Aha. So it's like flair for your uniform then.
-
@Turbineguy-Nom-de-Zoom Precisely.
-
@Turbineguy-Nom-de-Zoom Hand up, I am totally that guy who would do something like this.
-
@GibbsEmphasis It had more to do with the ever changing management at Cadillac and GM than anything suspension related.
-
@ForSweden +7-0
-
@i86hotdogs Chevy only made 10,000 Chevelle SS, and 90,000 of them are still on the road!
-
@Bandit It's not that bad, mostly requires understanding pretty standard spring-mass-damper equations, oscillations, contact patches through arc swings, steering geometry related to wheelbase and track width, camber change through body roll....not too hard.
(I once read an entire book on race car suspension design because I'm an insufferable nerd)
-
@Arch-Duke-Maxyenko Ah right, GM's Razor: Never blame engineering or design for shortcomings adequately explainable by laughable management.
(saying this as a Camaro enthusiast too hahaha)
-
@GibbsEmphasis pretty much.
