Mostly laid-back commuting, with just a touch of high-speed freeway stuff. I bet it would drop to the teens if I was really hammering it for a full tank. Miles per gallon is uh... Not the busa's strong suit. Now smiles per gallon on the other hand...

@AestheticsInMotion My Road Glide Ultra got 40+ mpg no matter how hard I flogged it. Amazed me every time I filled up.

          Nice!

Around 30mpg after break in averaging 40mph. We dance the Jarabe Tapatío down in Mexico a decent bunch, she's a party girl after all. 😉

@Mr-Ontop I'm partial to the Pacific Coast myself, but the Helix is also pretty cool!

@AestheticsInMotion now imagine what kind of mileage you'd be getting in a car from a similar era with similar performance numbers.

45.6 mpg yesterday. Not bad for a leaking 40 year old . And I noticed that I never flipped it off the reserve a couple fill ups ago. Just been filling up at about 160 miles.

@ike808 I like that gold and black! I could vary between 25-55 mpg on my Sporty depending on how hard I hit it. I had a Dynatek ignition and tune on it with a raised limiter, so I could really make it scream (for a Harley). Bring her in to Ramjet. They’ll get that thing sucking down fuel in no time.

@DipodomysDeserti I loved that color scheme but had only seen it on trikes. There is a thin red pinstripe between the gold and black as well.

That was my first and only big bagger. I rode multiple Suzukis before I went down the Buell road with a side trip to Aprilia.

I have to say I'm surprised. I would have thought it would at least get into the 30s.

I thought a lot of people rode bikes to save fuel... but hell... My Honda Fit does way better.

I'm averaging about 39 mpg (US gallons) with my Fit.

@Manwich Normal bikes get way better than that, the sport bikes, when ridden... enthusiastically get considerably less

@Manwich I'm a bit surprised too. If I was riding around at 100+ mph the whole time or just constantly scorching the throttle sure—but this was just casual commuting. Although as @Alfalfa alluded to, a similar level of performance from a car of that era is basically a Bugatti Veyron which... Gets about 8mpg under normal driving conditions according to the internet.
