Rawr. VR6 noises within.

Decided to test out my GoPro and microphone setup with the R32. Suction mounted the camera to the sunroof glass and ran an external microphone out through the hatch and clipped it to the license plate frame between the exhaust tips. That cuts out most of the wind noise and allows the VR6 exhaust note to take center stage.

I'm enjoying this little car. I got it registered and slapped my Colorado plates on earlier this week. This video is actually my first drive with the CO plates on.

@MarquetteLa A cardiologist colleague had one. He had an old Italian car (can't remember which) he was having restored but he wasn't really a car guy. I enjoyed listening to his R32 leave the parking lot. Very nice sound. He got a new car every few years so the R32 didn't last.

@benjrblant I'm in Loveland. ooh, first I'd have to fix my S4 to not be embarassed. Otherwise I'd show up in my Sienna or Transit.

The sound of the VR6 is a big part of why I got my Passat GT. I'd like to put an exhaust on it to bring out some more of the wookiee roar, but the factory tuned exhaust sounds pretty good already. I just wished it had 4-motion. It has way too much power for the front wheels at low speeds.

I have a GoPro and section cup but am deathly afraid of testing it outside the car because I don't want it to fall off. I got a Gecko one, which I think is good, it has great reviews, but with my luck...

Sounds good though, at least to my untrained ear. A bit windy in some parts.

Maaan that sounds good. Borrowed an 01 jetta wagon with the VR6 with an automatic. Really enjoyed driving around in that car, and really wished it was the manual, enjoy it!

@taylor-martin Run a "safety wire" from the mount/camera itself and slam it inside of one of the doors/opening so it will only dangle from that if something happends

@MarquetteLa I love it! I almost bought one back when I was in the Navy, but went for a WRX instead. I loved my Subie but sometimes I do wonder if the R32 would have been the better choice? Either way, yours is fantastic, and I love the sound. It sounds a little agricultural at low revs, but then screams when you give it the business! Awesome!

i dont know why people love hating on the VQ35 but not the 3.2L VR6. I like them both. The S5's debut with the 4.2L V8 also carried a similarly tuned exhaust note. I still want one just for that reason.... but I still avoid them for the all the other reasons...

@thedutchtexan Yeah, this motor puts out a whole lot of torque real low. I'd imagine it could be a handful with just the fronts spinning.

@Taylor-Martin Make sure the mounting surface is clean and stick it on there. If it's going to fall off, it'll do so pretty quickly I've found. So stick it on there and watch it for a few minutes. Give it some wiggles and see how well the suction holds.

@Snuze I really enjoyed the WRX I drove at a rallyx event a few years ago. Personally I love the R32's 2-door hatch body style which seems to have gone extinct in the US market.

@fhrblig I'm watching Bucs/WFT after watching the Seahawks lose. That was pleasing as I don't like Wilson.

It reminded me that I didn't like Mayfield and your comment about his commercials. Mayfield could have an acting career with a bit more work. A cynical view would be that his agent is genius; getting him to shut up this year and the self-deprecating commercials make Mayfield very likeable now. His commercials are way better than Aaron Rogers'.

I don't like Brady either so I'll only keep watching if Bucs don't do well.

@fhrblig I don't like Snyder and his long held insistence on racial slurs as a nickname. But I'll go with WFT over Brady/Brown. Just saw the Brown touchdown though. Brady's too good. I assume it'll be a one sided Bucs win.

The killer is that you can't turn off the traction control either. So sometimes it hooks and just scoots, other times it just doesn't. There would have been zero problems with 4motion!
