Offerings From Mr. Craig: Bored At Work Edition!

Remember when I didn't have a project car? I would throw random cars from random Craigslist searches into a list and yearn for them... then I bought a project car, have been tinkering with it, and still have a LeMons shaped hole in my soul... So now I want a cheap racecar to add to my collection.
It doesn't help that I went to a dirt racetrack last weekend and remembered how fun driving fast in the dirt was.
Not my photo, but those were the kinds of cars and that was the speedway.
I also just read @Miss-Mercedes article about her Gambler 500 Dodge Caravan... that inspired me a little bit too...
Well, I see your Gamblervan and raise you a LeMons Safari:
https://chambersburg.craigslist.org/cto/d/chambersburg-1988-gmc-safari-van/7487791613.html
According to 2 minutes of googling, the Safari is 74.5 inches tall and 76 inches wide, meaning it is technically wider than it is tall and could be a race car. Would be excellent for pretty much anything, actually. The ad does say it has rust... but I'm not exactly scared of rust anymore.
Would require a large roll cage though... that's why a small cabin is best...
Then there's this:
https://winchester.craigslist.org/cto/d/winchester-2005-volvo-xc-obo/7487695362.html
In a past life, this era of XC70 was my dream car. I still love these things, they're rugged yet refined. But my dad had a Volvo and it's electrical problems knew no bounds... so I strayed from the idea.
This one is headed down a slippery slope to a junkyard. Owner lost the title, and is already advertising it as a parts car... that means there isn't much time to turn it into a racecar before it becomes unfixable... granted, it already has a problem that limits it from driving within a few miles... would be tough to turn into a track car, but there's still life in it, I can tell.
On the flip side, here's a car with virtually no problems:
The PO (or COUS... that's current owner until sold) put a lot of work into... a saturn... I for one think that's excellent! Saturns are ugly but great! It would be an excellent LeMons car if it weren't already a good car... I feel like a perfect runner shouldn't be subjected to getting torn apart and raced... but that may just be me... also I have $225 lying around, not $2,250.
A very similar story is told with this Century:
https://winchester.craigslist.org/cto/d/funkstown-2003-buick-century/7497283667.html
Clean, old, well taken care of, old. It fits the bill and I do love it... but my heart longs for a different Buick of the era, my grandmother's 2001 LeSabre (which I have been told is mine in the will... it'll take every ounce of my being not to turn that awesome boat into a LeMons car, but at the very least I won't sell it... but let's make sure grandma lives a long happy life first)...
Till then, maybe I could settle for this 2003 LeSabre:
https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/cto/d/alexandria-2003-buick-lesabre-custom/7496360343.html
It's got electrical issues out the wazoo, but once going it sounds like it's pretty good... It's got a V6 too, that makes it a muscle car, right?
Though perhaps I don't need a LeMons car... maybe all I need is a VW Beetle grill:
No... not grille... grill...
https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/for/d/camp-hill-vw-barbecue-grill/7494722930.html
It's certainly one way to use leftover VW parts... and a really good way to spend nearly $900!
Anyways, I've killed enough time writing this lousy post... did you miss them?

@Taylor-Martin Lower that Safari a couple inches and you'll totally be in the clear! Also, circle track has to be run with a RWD car; it's ....science...
-
@Taylor-Martin I would love to find a Safari and do a full restomod build. They've always been one of my favorite vans, especially the ones spec'd with the three-part doors.
-
@AestheticsInMotion Hey man, if you buy it I'll drive it to you!
-
@Taylor-Martin four vehicles is already well over the guidelines for my apartment
-
@Taylor-Martin I am not a GM guy, but I do like those older Saturns when GM was still mostly letting them do their thing...
-
@Taylor-Martin mmm......Saturn

Saturn is an interesting brand, and I love seeing ones in good condition! Honestly, they should bring it back for electrics just cause
-
@Taylor-Martin That would've been a cool idea actually...
-
@RallyDarkstrike I mean, there’s one old GM EV that has some Saturn design cues:
-
@Taylor-Martin Always liked the EV1....still looks somewhat modern in some ways!
