"It's gotta be a bad ground"

Was my dad's conclusion why the trailer he gave me had no lights. His logic was that since they were all dead, that must be the problem. I guess that makes sense, but ...
Nope. That ain't it Pops!
I pulled the entire wiring harness and swapped in a new one that I already had on hand. This was the worst part, but there were other breaks and frays too.
New wires to the original housings got me running lights and turn signals, but when I applied the brakes, they shut off. That's less than ideal!
I swapped in some LED light housings that I also had on hand already, and now we're in business. It was dark by then, so no pictures of the finished job. Actually, I still need to finalize my connections and clean things up a bit tomorrow, but at least I know it all works.
In other trailer news, I mailed my registration forms to Vermont yesterday. $39 for tax and tags there, verses $215 for title, tax, and tags for a silly little utility trailer in my greedy state. I'll hang onto the signed Illinois title that I had my dad not put a date on, in case I ever decide to sell the trailer.

@Shop-Teacher I'm pretty sure the ground on that cable isn't looking good, so give dad some credit...
