COFL PNW Tour: That's a Wrap
-
Wow, what a week. Some incredible experiences, memories and moments.
Total KM/Miles: 2833km/1760miles
Total Spend on Gas: $764CAD/$586.12USD
Total Spend on Accomodations: $15USDAdd in increased food spending (meals out), whiskey, beer and a new windshield.
I'll have some writeups next week on the different regions of my trip (Coastal OR, Central OR, Eastern WA and the North Cascades). But I wanted to give a big shout out to all the Oppos who showed up to the PNW meet in Tillamook, went offroading, joined me in Central OR or just contributed ideas for the trip.
I also wanted to extend a general thank you to America and Americans in general. The devotion to keeping your public lands accessible, clean and open to everyone frankly puts Canada to shame.
Also, I met so many helpful people along the way from Texas, Arizona, Montana, Colorado, Idaho and of course, WA/OR locals who either chatted with me, bought me drinks, gave me firewood or helped with destinations/camping.
You guys have a very funny country and while there's lots to love, there's also lots to be wary of. I can only take so much "America" and I'm glad to be back in Canada.
Some DOTS from the trip:
-
@CarsOfFortLangley as always, thanks for organizing everything! The fact that you managed to wrangle up some 20ish people from all across Canada and the western US is nothing short of miraculous.
-
@AestheticsInMotion Anytime! I'm already planning my return, the North Cascades area is calling my name for another trip. Maybe a long weekend or something.
I tried to get up Hart's Pass to Slate Peak today but predictably there was far to much snow.

With great freedom comes great WTF S H E N A N I G A N S.

@CarsOfFortLangley I'm always game for the North Cascades. Highway 20 headed east and then looping down to Wenatchee before taking highway 2 back would be a great overnight trip. You could do a more street oriented adventure, or explore offroad.
-
@AestheticsInMotion Just make sure to never EVER take highway 2 back west on a Sunday.
-
@Dr-Zoidberg or East on a Friday... crazy shit.
-
@Dr-Zoidberg there are a couple alternate paths through neighborhoods or farmland that bypass big stretches of highway 2 traffic, but... Yeah. It's rough.
-
@CarsOfFortLangley seems like a legendary trip! Come back next year so I can have an excuse to drive across the country!
-
@Taylor-Martin Pick me up halfway!
-
@Taylor-Martin It looks like you could drive Fargo via Fargo (google even thinks it's the best route):
-
@facw 40 hours in Fargo… I’d be lucky if he made it 40 minutes!
-
@Taylor-Martin You've got a year to get ready! I'm sure things will be hyper reliable by next year's meet!
-
@facw This looks like a punishing drive lol.
-
@CarsOfFortLangley How punishing could it be? It looks like he can cross the entire state of North Dakota without turning the wheel!
-
@facw That's the worst kind of driving. I did enough of that on this trip in Eastern WA. SO boring, SO shit.
-
@CarsOfFortLangley The trick is obviously to nap for those parts!
-
@facw your optimism is appreciated…
-
@CarsOfFortLangley it was an awesome trip and a great reason to see part of the country I've not before. Thanks for putting it together!
-
@jminer Thanks for coming! Wish you could have hung around longer!
