Fatality x2 in this 140ish mph off in southwest Colorado as part of the Crown Rally West. Whatever the he'll that is.
Not feeling very sympathetic about him. Feel bad for their families.
Bonus points for identifying the hulk of scrap. Sorry too lazy to include a real link. -
@xsnowpig It's a Dodge Durango in law enforcement livery of some kind.
-
@xsnowpig is that a Cayman?
-
-
@xsnowpig 911 turbo? The article linked above says this is the car at 1:15 in a facetube video
-
@ItalianJobR53 Wow you were actually close.
-
@Vondon302 gadammit I was wondering if it could be a 911 as well. This annoys me...

More surprises TBATrack days are AT THE END! So, why can't they wait to kill themselves there at the track? If a group creates an experience, well I don't know what that experience is. Within that list, I wonder what the point is of some things; Professional media? Police escorts and street closures? Public launch parties? I get the parties and driving. Who wouldn't enjoy that for the money? A nice getaway. But the other stuff sounds like a flex for expressionist A-holes? I hate to instantly categorize people, but reading what it is about...it's like a faux Panamericana race...which was axed in the 50's because it was too dangerous!
The cancellation was unavoidable given that cars of the period were of a high-speed, low-safety design, and drivers of a win-at-all-costs mentality. Only a third of entrants typically finished the race, and unlike more compact circuits, the long stage sections were impossible to secure entirely, making it possible for crashes to linger for several hours before being noticed.
I can't find a single thing on their website(s) detailing what they are doing on the roads besides that list of things included with your money. All they promote is their rally4acause campaign, donations, etc. Is this a time-speed-distance rally? Or a rally, like people getting together to drive around and look whatever and pay to party with a Disney FastPass? Either way, someone did it wrong and smoked themselves BeamNG style, in a non-competition prepared car, decorated like a competition car, with non-competition prepped drivers, at competition speeds, on non-competition prepped areas.
#Dipshits.

@GrindIntoSecond sounds like a low rent Gumball deal, parties and showing off - kinda makes sense the track day is at the end because those tend to break things and nobody looks baller pulling up to the 4-Seasons in a U-Haul.
The price would actually be decent if it included some of the meals or accomodations but I suspect it just buys you privilege of showing up to spend more money. This kind of single vehicle collision I'm ok with; excessively wealthy humans tend not to be good for the ecosystem and have few natural predators, except for fast cars they can't control and general aviation.... (Maybe also horses landing on them and golf course lightning)
-
@zipfuel Well that link sent me down a ridiculously long Wiki rabbit hole...
-
@xsnowpig Yep, just a reminder that things can go irretrievably badly very fast at high speed. The car is capable of stable operation to 180 mph? But who knows what got them. Could be an untorqued wheel, or a tire puncture, or a jack rabbit.
Or maybe they just tried to take a selfie at speed...... Show is over.....
