Thanks for not throwing it away grandma!

The 2008 silver proof set of state quarters. Not particularly valuable, but pretty cool. I used to like coins quite a bit. 20210108_135931.jpg 20210108_140002.jpg

The coolest ipod Apple ever made. Whomst remembers the buttonless nano?! I can't believe I never lost this. 20210108_140031.jpg 20210108_140042.jpg

And my old 2DS! Last time I got strep a friend picked this up for me, and I played Fire Emblem and Metroid for the week or so it took to heal. It's... A bit dusty. 20210108_140112.jpg 20210108_140848.jpg

(update) I took the quarters out of the box. 90% silver, 10% copper. They feel very light. The knurling on the edges is incredibly sharp, it's surreal to handle a 2008 coin that looks and feels newer than anything being produced today. The mirror finish is rediculous, I can read the text on my phone screen in the quarters' reflection.

@aestheticsinmotion Those quarters are neat! I say people to whom the value of their collection matters aren't true collectors.

The iPod is also neat. I still have a shuffle I used to use on flights. Nowadays, I'm allowed to have my phone on during takeoff and landing, and bluetooth connects to my air pods, but I'll never give it up.

@AestheticsInMotion I have two of those Nanos. Mine have been awesome. One is waterproofed for pool swims.

Oh. You're right! Well... It probably should have been given the Nano branding, given, well... You know

I looked up Ipods about a week ago, for the first time In maybe a decade? Just for nostalgias sake, I was curious if Apple was still producing any music players. And... They are! Kind of. That said, I don't know what market they're going after with their Ipod touch

I've gone to the dark side and switched fully to wireless headphones. I wonder if I could fit a Bluetooth chip in here...

I think I do. There are a couple of cell phone holdouts that still want the simplicity of a dumb phone and have wifi all around all day so don't need a cell plan and all the associated BS. Ironically, I think they tend to be mostly IT guys, at least the ones I know.

And you may ask yourself, "Where does that highway go to?"

Silver is way up lately. Those quarters melt at nearly $5 apiece these days - not a fortune, but a lot more than a quarter!

I have a whole box of these as a relative was quite fond of gifting these sets every year for like a solid ten years from whenever they started in the early '00s. Glad to know they are worth more in the weight of silver at least.
