After watching a bunch of videos on prop-powered boats, this just has bad idea written all over it. The thrust angle could make this go really well or really, really bad.

Never discount the possibility that you might live through it.

              Don't worry. It's Italian.

@ttyymmnn so it'll catch fire long before it reaches a dangerous speed?

I suppose the safest place to test that theory would be on the water.

Or simply break down and then sit at the pier for six months waiting for parts.

I wonder if @BicycleBuck's supposition on the thrust angle is why modern air boats use pusher props instead of this arrangement? This thing looks like a bad hop would put the front of the pontoons down digging into the water where the thrust would pull the whole thing over.

Or else it's just better to have the spinning blades of death out of the way at the back of the boat.

Yeah, that has something to do with it. The videos I'm referencing are of a guy trying to build a small Ekranoplan. While trying to sort out the right angle for the thrust line, he manages to drown the aircraft and nearly submerges it more than once. I've also seen some videos of guys trying to use air propellers to move a boat. Those nearly always ended up with lots of water going everywhere and the thrust line was identified as an important element to both the boat position in the water and the amount of spray.

Never discount the possibility that you might live through it.

Yep. This two need some bigger windshields. And they'd make good use of whatever life preserver/water safety gear they carry.
