Johnny can swim!!
-
He’s been afraid to swim - he just loves running through creeks. So, I walked in and encouraged him by pushing him in. Took him 3 seconds to realize that this was fun and that he could chase his sister all the way!
Came home to my marinated chicken, popped it on the grill
Final product, with a marg
Dog tax

@MUSASHI66 Water dogs!
-
@facw Totally. Ellie is obsessed with it. We even had Frankie dip in for a few laps - he usually patrols the perimeter and pees on stuff.
-
@MUSASHI66 Sylvie will go up to her legs but she doesn't like to swim. She is good at falling off kayaks though.
-
@415s30 That’s cute
There was a pug at the swim park the other day, chasing two full size Labs. It was quite hilarious
Tiny dot on the left = pug, swimming for dear life.
-
@415s30 I had a Boston who loved the water, but didn't like swimming. She's happily spend hours chasing dogs around the shallow edge of the dog park pond though.

When I was a kid, my family lived on a lake, and we had a springer spaniel named Tiger. She would wade in the water, but she wouldn't swim. If I took our canoe out into the lake, she would whine and watch me paddle away. One day, I paddled to a peninsula on the far side of the lake. A few minutes later, I saw Tiger running along the shore of the peninsula. I wondered how she could have run all the way around the lake that quickly. I then paddled to an island in the lake. When I saw Tiger on the Island, I realized she had taken up swimming.

@MUSASHI66 Those are some persuasive eyes, I can say that
-
@MUSASHI66 Water dogs. And tacos. Life is good.
-
@Roadkilled Exactly how I made my old dog in Serbia swim. I went to the other side of a lake, and he came after. Couldn’t get him out of the water after that though.

@ranwhenparked They sure are. They are saying “I see you are eating steak jerky, which was definitely not purchased for dog consumption. Johnny wants some steak jerky” , which of course meant he got some jerky, which meant other two heard him eat so they got some steak jerky.
He gets away with murder.
-
@WilliamsSW I don’t have too many reasons to complain about life if I’m being honest.
-
@blacktruck18 Ah, but he sniffs it too.
-
@MUSASHI66 That's actually kind of dangerous, especially without a life jacket. Brachycephalic gummy bear shaped dogs are not good swimmers.
-
@415s30 This little guy was booking it and keeping up with the big dogs, but he was pretty much vertical and furiously pedaling with the front paws. He loved every second of it, but I presume you are spot on with the life jacket.
-
@MUSASHI66 My pup got the hang of it in NY a few years ago. Where’d ya go?
-
@MUSASHI66 I was so happy when I took Zoe to water for the first time, and she dove right in.
Hooray for puppy swims!
-
@MUSASHI66 I made grilled chicken thighs last night too! What do you use for a marinade? I just served mine with rice and veggies but I am going to steal your tortilla idea next time I think.
-
@Huzer Windsor Lake, they have a small dog park on the shore so we don’t have to keep an eye on the Rangers the whole time.
-
@phenotyp Lucky you, all of mine are chicken and they took a while to warm up. Thankfully they all love it now, and it’s a good way to get energy out when it’s way too hot for regular walks and activities.
-
@ibRAD I use chicken we buy at Costco - organic boneless skinless chicken thighs. I eyeball everything, but it’s a generous coating of salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne, smoked paprika and olive oil.
It literally goes on everything. Salads, with any side you feel like, on tacos, covered with green chili… even dumped a bunch in a container of takeout tikka masala when we ate most of the chicken but there was sauce left. I grill two packages at the time and w whist store the leftovers in the fridge and reheat in the toaster oven.
-
@MUSASHI66 That's similar to what I do, but I also usually include cumin and brown sugar in the spices and leave out the oil (although last night I did a marinade with sriacha, soy sauce, brown sugar, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne, sesame oil and paprika)
I like to get them whole, and then bone and trim them so they still have skin. The bones are good for stock, and the cat appreciates the trimmings!
-
@MUSASHI66 yeah, the past couple weeks have already been tough—thick black coat plus 105 degrees equals unhappy pupper. I’m taking her to a trail with a spring-fed (no algae worries) creek on Saturday. And I’m taking her to the ocean in a couple weeks, I expect that she’s gonna lose her goddamn mind.
-
@ibRAD You really can’t go wrong with a thigh. I might add pineapple in my next batch.
