What a six months it’s been!

I noticed earlier that it’s been six months since I turned up here (account opening was yesterday and first post tomorrow but today works for doing this) and since then it’s been an amazing (can I say mega?) six months. Here are four highlights and one bit of news…
1. Moving to Opposite Lock
My first post and one I never really thought I’d do. When DriveTribe died I needed somewhere to go (admittedly here wasn’t my first choice) and when somewhere else let me down I came here and I really haven’t regretted it. The people here are amazing and it provided everything I never knew I wanted (DriveTribe seems so disappointed in retrospect).
2. My first car review
I’d always wanted to do a car review but I’d never had an opportunity until I went to a Hyundai event to see one of my favourite EVs (and cars) the IONIQ 5. It went worse than expected with the car with me managing to set off the car because I was trying to lock a car that was on. The review sounded quite good though, almost verging on professional.
3. Not even in my wildest dreams…
Not strictly relevant to Oppo but it’s my list and I couldn’t leave this off. A normal day out this was not, a normal trip to Silverstone to wander around a museum and kill some time before going shopping nearby it wasn’t. Clearly luck was on my side as I spent the day stood a step watching George Russell muck around with British vehicles - how could it be better…
4. How have I got myself here?
One of the better things that happened in the last six months is my new(ish) newspaper section where my only role is to write about what George Russell does on track - there are a lot worse ways to spend my time! Over the races the coverage has evolved to not be too positive towards George but still not slating him. Great fun.
Goodbye for now…
But for now I’m going to say goodbye. Exams start next week and although I’ve been winding down what I do on here I still spend far too long aimlessly scrolling. I’m going to take Oppo off my Home Screen so I’m not distracted. I’ll still be here for F1 and any replies to this but otherwise it’s goodbye for two weeks.
