HEAR THE RAPTOR R(oar)
-
I hadn't seen this posted though it is on several automotive sites already. I mean yeah its a V8 and several mentioned that in person it sounds supercharged but it almost sounds like the pumped in sound you get nowadays. Maybe we are just getting so conditioned its hard to tell over the internet what sounds real and what doesn't. I'm sure it sounds glorious in person.
-
@Snakesm13 Sounded weird when I heard it on @David-Tracy IG, but it sounds a little better here. Still seems really synthetic and weird.
-
Is it likely that the mic they used to record the audio was not on the drone they used to film this?
Here's video from The Autopian:
-
@davesaddiction Thats the video I was referencing. The mic was definitely not on the drone.
-
Maybe it sounds "synthetic" because other makers are using Ford V8 noises for part of their piped-in sound?
-
@davesaddiction Its a combination of the supercharger whine over the sound of Ford's DOHC. It's the "right" sound but I don't like it.
-
@HammerheadFistpunch This is straight Duke's of Hazard. You can hear tires squealing against pavement. Pretty sure that doesn't happen on dirt.
-
@HammerheadFistpunch I think Synthetic is the right word.
-
@Snakesm13 Are they on a sand covered tarmac or something? I've never heard tires squeal on sand before.
-
@Mr-Ontop You need to watch the Dukes of Hazard!
-
@Future-Next-Gen-S2000-Owner It was a stable on TV when I was a kid....Let me add that the California sets look nothing like Georgia, where it was supposed to be set.
-
sand in high quartz will make a different noise. Such as at Polihale or Barking Sands beach. -
@Mr-Ontop Thirty Mile Zone shows...all right outside LA, but pretending to be elsewhere. Apparently it saved a ton of money in union salaries or something.
Little House on the Prairie
Green Acres
MASH
Dukes of HazzardThe list goes on and on...and still affects lower-budget movies and shows today. I recently saw coastal British Columbia standing in for a Louisiana Bayou. That was a streeeetch. Huge conifers and mountains in the background? LOL.
-
@ash78 I can also confirm that South Korea looks nothing like Southern California.
I think the go to places for filming now are Atlanta, Vancouver and Toronto. The first Stranger This creepiness level was enhanced by the inky dark southern nights. Looks just like where I grew up.
