Ok I could not figure out a good title here.

Basically I donked up. I went to grab a part out of the Volvo's passenger seat and (A) forgot I was wearing gloves and (B) didn't realize said gloves are covered in anti-seize.

Queue several nasty spots on the Volvo's otherwise pristine leather.

This was after I'd panic sprayed it with 409. Water did nothing to it, but thankfully 409 cut it pretty much instantly. A few areas need follow-up, but I was fearing the worst.

Might as well give it a full detail when I get home from vacation...

@AkioOhtori that's terrifying. Glad it came out okay though.

@AkioOhtori I need to clean my interior... lots of sunscreen smears. Fortunately that seems to come off fine.

@AkioOhtori (OK so maybe anti-sieze is a bad example, but you've nevertheless triggered my rant about how) this sort of thing is why I hate using black gloves. They hide the dirt/grease/grime that's often dark in color, which would be easier to see at-a-glance against light-colored gloves before touching things like interior pieces. I'm genuinely surprised that black gloves have become so popular, not just in the mechanic world, but among detailers too.

@AkioOhtori Glad you got it off. I did the exact same thing on the weekend installing mudflaps. Got my shiny new factory mud guards all silvery. Then I hopped in the car to move it forgetting that I'd been laying on the ground. Fortunately dirt just brushes off.

Fully agree. Ironically these were orange gloves and the anti-seize was clearly visible but yeah... agree haha

@Urambo-Tauro the black 6mm ones are usually cheaper than any other 6mm ones on amazon.

@facw I know the sunscreen spots. I've got an accumulation on the driver's door of my work truck where I grab the handle and rest my arm.

@AkioOhtori usually when I’m inadvertently spreading things on stuff, it’s because I’ve cut myself without noticing, and getting blood everywhere.
