My favorite cheap soup

It's a decent Tom Yum soup, and costs about $1.35. This may sound silly, but one of my favorite things about it is the bowl that it comes in. No, it's not environmentally friendly being plastic instead of paper, but it has a good lid and can be reused. The lid doesn't snap on but just sits on top, so you do have to be careful that you don't tip it over.
I would often use these bowls for taking lunch to work. It's a good size for a single meal, and when cooking I would often portion meals into these for lunches and dinners. And, of course, if you have some ramen in a little bag you can use these bowls to make it. And, if you don't feel like washing it you can dispose/recycle it without much guilt (but I've been using the same ones for years now)

I approve. I do a similar thing with ramen cups I get for $0.25 each from Sam's.My wife grew up learning that you always get Mrs. Grass chicken soup when you're sick, so I get it for her now when she is. It's not very good, but tradition is as much a healer as nutrition sometimes. Everyone has their special favorite.

It's not great but simpler than desiccated soup :
Unfortunately the best kind of soups are hard to find or only available dessicated :

LOL, I better order some too. Not like it's a replacement for the covid vaccine or anything, but these days it's a good idea to have around.

I have been making a good amount of soups and stews this winter as they seem to make the house nice and toasty. One of my favorite soup tricks is to add a a tablespoon of potato starch for every 2-3 cups of liquid when the soup is basically finished. IT makes it thick like a Panera soup without the extra fat of cream or half and half. Well I still add a splash of half and half to cream type soups.

I'm a big fan of Progresso, because it's a step above Cambell soups (the ones you have to add water/milk to... which are pretty gross) but still within budget.
That and those big ramen blocks with the seasoning packets.
