Rivian sent me an email with a link to this video of their plant. Looks like they're churning out trucks at a pretty decent pace! Now they just need to drop the price of their SUV back down another $20k and maybe I'll be interested in getting one again!

(Not even talking about the design & technical development, supply chain, and actual work building cars ...)
And yet, there will always be internet armchair quarterbacks and car enthusiasts claiming it's vaporware and "why does it take so long" and I'll believe it when I see it".
Massive respect to these guys.

That's because of the amount of time, money, and work required to get to this point. For every Rivian, there's about 10 companies that showed a pretty concept car, then disappeared. For every company that showed a pretty concept car, there are about 10 others than just showed pretty computer renderings of a concept car, then disappeared. The jaded vaporware assumption comes from the breathless, uncritical coverage that much of the automotive press gives to every startup coming down the pike, when, the fact is, only a tiny portion of them are actually valid

The massive amount of work that goes into building a car, is exactly why you should assume most car startups are vaporware, and not believe it until you see it.
