Why did it take me over a decade to find this?
-
I realize that it's been off the air for years, but why did it take me until 2021 to discover this show? This is the funniest shit I've seen in years! I binged it, and now I'm watching it again, finding new things each time I see an episode.
Funny, funny stuff. What a cast. I really hope that they do a movie, provided that they can keep the same chemistry.

Can you clue us in?
I just discovered Broadchurch, which seems pretty interesting.
-
@6MT_FTW That's a coincidence. I also just started watching this. It is indeed very good. I'd heard of it but never got excited enough to watch. If the hoi poloi like it so much, how good could it be?
I've also just started watching and like 30 Rock and Burn Notice.

Community.
-
@vincentmalamute Thanks, don't think I've heard of it.
-
@vincentmalamute burn notice was great.
-
@just-jeepin Sorry - I thought that the image I saved had the title of the program in it but it looks like I picked a different one. It's on Netflix, so thankfully it can be watched sans commercials.

As mentioned, I looked down on it since it was so popular. But it's good.
@Just-Jeepin @pip-bip The three shows I just started on (Community, 30 Rock, Burn Notice) seem to have ,ahem, community as a theme. Kind of like the attraction of Oppo. Interpersonal relationships and character development. Pleasant, positive, and funny. Characters are supportive of each unlike say Friends or Seinfeld.
-
@6MT_FTW Community is one of my all-time favorite shows!
-
@6mt_ftw Fantastic show, really.

I, too, am guilty of this. Considering what I was going through in 2009, this show would have been a real boost to my spirits back then. At least I found it now.
-
@jminer Agreed. Well written and good casting.

yeah, I'm inclined to look for more uplifting shows now.

@vincentmalamute
Us too. Hometown, the renovation show on HGTV has been our tv comfort food lately. -

Us too. Hometown, the renovation show on HGTV has been our tv comfort food lately.oh, I also just started watching This Old House. Hometown is good? Shows more of the 'how to' stuff rather than on the decorating, flipping, and drama stuff?
-
@vincentmalamute I love this old house too! Hometown is more fluffy, but it’s a great mix. Ben has a wood shop so he builds stuff and does the construction. Erin does the design/decor. I don’t know how to describe it but it’s different from the other flipper shows...there’s a certain charm to the locale and the protagonists that I enjoy. Might not be your thing but it’s a great couples show for me and Mrs CDD.
-
@ClassicDatsunDebate OK, I'll check it out. I want to learn useful things from the show, not just be entertained. Design/decor is important in addition to building knowledge.
-
@6mt_ftw The lady and I blazed through community a few months ago. We loved it with the exception of a handful of later episodes where they got a little too creative with musicals and special episodes. Not saying they were necessarily bad, we just didn't vibe with it. Hilarious show otherwise.
-
@6mt_ftw Community is amazing. One of the funniest, most creative shows I've ever seen.
@VincentMalamute If you're looking for other uplifting comedies and haven't seen them, I can recommend Schitt's Creek and The Good Place.
-
I watched Burn Notice when it originally ran on USA, and watched it again last year over the summer. Still held up to me. I've always liked Bruce Campbell, and Sam Axe was a role he was meant to play.
-
@vincentmalamute Burn notice was great!
-
I'll echo what a few others have said: Community is great! Glad you found it. I'm going through a 30 Rock rewatch right now too. I haven't seen these since they first aired, so it's been fun.
A few others to suggest (first two on Hulu and third on Apple):
Terriers
What We Do in the Shadows (this is a current show on FX, so you may be able to find that way too)
Ted Lasso -
We like to mix up something dark like Ozark followed up by Somebody feed Phil.
I have really been into community for a few months but slowed down in the last season because I don't want it to be over. Burn notice was great as well. Not sure if I ever saw it as it originally aired just in reruns.
-
POP POP! Great show
-
@foghat1981 Yo, what "we do in the shadows" is so funny!
-
Oh yeah Community is one of my faves. I'm re-watching it right now.
