Are these desirable yet?

I swear its only a matter of time until these start fetching good coin on the collector market. I say this because you just never see them anymore. Not on the road, not for sale. And because nowdays, 2.2l is a big motor, and it has the flavor of the year, turbo!

@st80mnd Or, if you need a little class...

I love the Dodge Daytona. Some of the higher end ones in good condition may command a higher price, but these are still fairly affordable when I see them time to time for sale.
The Shelby Daytona is usually priced way out of any reasonable figure I would pay, but they are nice......
-
@st80mnd buy it and flip it when the time comes
-
@st80mnd I've always really liked the Daytona....I'd say they're cool! There's a gentleman around here with a mint one in a bright blue with red accents that he brings out in the summer
-
@st80mnd Isn't that basically a K-car?
-
@ST80MND Always liked the later Daytona IROCs
Also, Daytonas look good in Pro Stock form.
-
@rusty-vandura yes, but turbo! Fastback! Daytona!
-
@rusty-vandura Yes. Pretty much everything Mopar made in the 80's, was some sort of K-car.
-
@st80mnd I hope not. I drove one once and the performance did not match the the styling and badges.
-
@st80mnd They aren't particularly desirable, except for the Shelby versions. I have always liked the way they looked though.
-
Desirable for certain people surely.
One of my teachers at vocational school had one of these. -
Always liked these, though I prefer the earlier quad-rectangular headlight front end. I had an '84 Chrysler Laser (same car) for a while, with ther 2.2 turbo and an automatic. Very nearly bought a nice '85 Daytona Turbo a couple years ago, for $500 with a rod knock, but cooler heads prevailed.

On more than one occasion, I attempted to purchase one new. The first, identical to the one below, including the optional rubber side skirts that were discontinued within first few months .
The second time was in 1989, a blue C/S model. More foolishness from the Dodge dealer made me walk again. A coworker bought the very car I wanted months later. The one thing that I disliked very much was the vagueness of the cable actuated shifter, which I probably would have grown to hate.
-
@shop-teacher My mom had a Plymouth Reliant 2.2 four-door. Don't know the year. Thing got like 35 mph. And with the new struts, drove quite nicely.
-
@trivet that Daytona engine would be real nice in my Rampage... but not for that price. Well, maybe...

The cable shifter is NOT good. Same one on my Rampage. First (and so far only) critical thing to fail was that cable. It is crap. Iβd consider doing a hydraulic conversion but itβs not worth it until o decide what Iβm doing with this thing powertrain wise.
-
@rusty-vandura My 2.2 Rampage drives quite nice. But like stated above, the cable shifter is crap.
-
@sn4cktimes The last episode of Roadkill I watched, they dug up a Rampage somewhere and they liked it. How Roadkill threw its initial charming appeal out the window is one of my great disappointments in life.
-
@rusty-vandura Yeah. I miss the Motortrend on YouTube days.
