Filled up the Fit with gas yesterday…
-
… and it cost me CAD$75
At this rate, my monthly fuel costs will be around $300-$350/month.
I am now pining for a sub-$10,000 used electric car that has at least 200 miles of EPA-rated range.
Can someone PLEASE make this happen for me?
Maybe @Satan can fix me up.
Nothing bad ever happens when you make a deal with the devil, right? RIGHT???
-
@Manwich Buy 2 i-Meivs, keep one at work, the other at home. Drive one to one place, the other back.
lol
-
@Manwich lol. I filled the Colorado Yesterday for a friend who is using it for a trip.
$230. for 77L of diesel and 13L of DEF.
fuck this
-
-
It is still a better deal than the gas version though, isn't it?
-
had my first 3 figure (>$100) fill up the other day. should've taken a picture for posterity.
-
@ibRAD cost to fill, no. but I get ~ 45% more out of a tank. (I clear 1000km with a little bit of difficulty)
but atm, diesel is only like 10% more then regular at some stations. 10-15%
-
@Peter_Black Oh yeah, I've seen it at 2.35 near my house. Hopefully you stay ahead of the game.

@Manwich
You need to make a deal with UppU. Only he can make it happen!I am seriously thinking my next car needs to at least be a hybrid. Gas for something that gets ~40mpg isn't too bad.
-
@ibRAD I saw it at 2.50 somewhere. that made me almost hurl.
but yea, on my commute to work, i get it down to 5.9L/100km. for a mid-sized truck?

Incidentally my Fit averages around 40 MPG (based on US gallons)
I just don’t like the idea of spending $300+ per month on fuel
-
@Peter_Black Can't beat that. I get 6.1 on my mazda 2! And it is most definitely not a midsize truck.

I got my echo to stop paying through the nose driving my 4runner to work... and now it costs the same as it did when I used to drive my 4runner to work.

-
Well your Echo is probably more than paying for itself now. Imagine how it would be if you didn’t have the Echo…

We are about to see the rise of the electric bike.
Thinking about getting one for myself. That might be the way to get a BEV with the range I want

I got it for 600 bucks. it paid for itself in a few months! (or a year if you include the money I put into it to make it roadworthy)

That thing isn't legal in ontario though. 500W and I think 32kms/hr is the max.

Buy a Leaf!
Unless you're a Habs fan.

@Manwich
I paid about that to fill up my K900 this week. With my mileage, thank goodness my gas prices are lower than yours. -
@Manwich oh man, last year you could find old beater Nissan Leafs which you knew would have bad battery degradation for under $10k any day.
Now they start at $14k for 9 or 10 year old examples.
This is the sort of consumer behaviour carbon pricing is supposed to drive but much more gradually. -
@zipfuel I was considering a lexus CT200h and they were going for 12-18 last year. Now they are going for 18-25!
-
@Manwich I've been splitting the driving between all 3 vehicles in hopes that fuel crashes before any of them run out of gas.
Looks like I might be in luck this weekend!
We both WFH so or driving isn't huge.
