Are you sure about that?…

…because TX power generation is roughly 16% from wind.
Either way, the ironic cherry on top is the oil rig license plate.
-
@Chariotoflove too bad the plate didn't say "frackin"
-
Elon definitely blows tho
-
@Chariotoflove It’s a Tezzler, it only uses the extra special wind and sun generated electricity. It’s got a filter to keep those nasty oil and gas electrons out.
-
@Chariotoflove I mean you can pay for all renewable. Of course your energy still comes from wherever, but at least you are supporting the production of green energy.
Also your data is a bit out of date, wind was up to 23% by 2020, and given the rapid growth I would be surprised if it wasn't significantly higher already:
I do like the oil plate.

But they might still be BSG fans, yes?

@facw
Leave it to you! lolThis gag only deserved a quick wikipedia check for a number. I knew it would still be less than fossil sources. In fact, TX is the largest producer of wind power. Still doesn’t make the gag less funny.

@Chariotoflove Tesla drivers are delusional.
-
@Chariotoflove It likely is from someone who works on a windfarm. I should ask my boss if he knows the guy.
-
@Chariotoflove I saw an S once with a “coal keeps the lights on” special plate. Mood.
-
@Chariotoflove Maybe it's just me, but I think electric cars should have some sort of wind-turbine system in them that spins a fan while they're driving at highway speed. It'd charge a phone or play the radio or flick on a light, but that's free electricity (kind of)...
Or build an electric car based around the idea of wind power. I had a dream about it once, it looked like this:
I know, my schematic sketching abilities cannot be matched.
But then again, this idea is coming from the same guy who wants wind up cars to be a thing...
-
@Taylor-Martin The maximum wind turbine efficiency is roughly 59%, per the Betz limit. So you could only ever get 59% of the energy used to over come the additional drag.
-
@Chariotoflove powered by the hot air created by Elon

Science and logic ruin all my brilliant ideas...
-
@Taylor-Martin If it makes you feel any better, I throw out ideas at work that get shot down too. I feel the pain.
-
@Taylor-Martin In theory it could be useful when slowing down, but regenerative brakes are a much easier way to gain power when slowing.
If it makes you feel better Gizmodo made this error in a glowing article about some snake oil and got excoriated in the comments.

@Taylor-Martin
I think pinwheels on cars are cool, so I’m probably your target audience.
