I bought a Saturn Sky...
-
For a school project.
In Math, we're doing a "Budget Project" where you have to buy a car, house, and all that. It's basically teaching us how to budget our money, even though I learned this in Consumers Ed.
I chose to buy this 2008 Saturn Sky Premium for $12,995. It has no accidents, it's fairly cheap, the interior is in good condition, and a 2.5L Inline 4. It's a convertible and it overall just looks pretty. I knew this was the car I wanted when I added all the pros.
The cons are I don't get AWD and the mileage is not that good.
Whatever. I love it.

@Genesis_Haysenhox Cool car, but I think you just failed your 'budget project' because you just bought a 14 year old saturn for 13 grand.
-
@Genesis_Haysenhox ....awd? wut?

I mean, nothing in them is that exotic. It's mostly just GM parts bin stuff isn't it?

I suppose. Not sure how hard it is to get parts for them.

@WasGTIthenGTOthenNOVAthenGTInowA4 if so, it's the prettiest parts bin the General produced in my lifetime.
-
@Genesis_Haysenhox #vanlife. You could have won the contest by buying an RV. That solves your car and house need for way less money.

@ibRAD @Miss-Mercedes bought hers for $8k, but that was a good price, she says most Redlines are $11k+

It seems a touch high for a non-redline base car, but these days, what do I know?

@Genesis_Haysenhox I did an assignment like this back in highschool. It took into account cost of the car and cost of maintenance.
Dug around autotrader and found an 800 civic. Total POS but I was able to survive.
-
@Genesis_Haysenhox I got 28 mpg in my Sky doing 80 mph on the drive home. That's not bad for a 3k-pound sports car.
For a small note, there wasn't a 2.5 engine for the Sky, just a 2.4 naturally-aspirated Ecotec LE5 and a 2.0 Ecotec LNF turbo.
$13k for a 60k-mile base Sky isn't a great deal; just $3k more would get you a Red Line from Cars & Bids. But it is the kind of price that I'd expect from a dealership.

I live in Michigan... AKA Antarctica 2... so I need AWD
-
I love it. I don't care
-
Yes!!
-
That was against the rules

@Genesis_Haysenhox I remember doing something like this in high school, but we had to pick new cars for some reason so I picked a Nissan Versa, mother of all cheap boring cars.
