Places of 2020
-
At least a few of the places I've seen this 2020.
Nothing more, nothing less. In actuality, I had a pretty decent year in terms of seeing neat places.
-
Fantastic...
Man, I wish I lived out west (and had more weekends that were available for adventures).
-
I would like to be at any of these places (except the last one, I'm cold enough here)
-
Beautiful photos! Looks like you have some great explorations.
-
@hammerheadfistpunch something about this one looks surreal
-
@hammerheadfistpunch I now have a new background on my monitor, thanks!
-
@highlander Which one?
-
@highlander We should consider having a separate web service for sharing high quality photos, since there are limits here on both size and dimension.
Or maybe @jminer could remove those limits, but I don’t know what the financial implication would be. Plus everyone’s data budget for their mobile devices could take a hit.

It was kinda nice being forced to explore my local area for a change. I know in 2019 I was in a different state or country at least once a month. I still did a bit of travel early in 2020 but from mid March through December I didn't leave California with my only external lodging being some camping in the Sierras. I'm so glad I did a 60 mile section hike, got into mountain biking, and intentionally hiked so many off-the-beaten-path areas. Now with cases getting worse again, I think that's going to be my next couple months again for sure. Hoping to ski more but I think jan/Feb will be locked down against that.

@just-jeepin There are a lot of technical and legal questions we need to sort out. Hopefully thats coming soon.*
we, the community, In terms of long term use and EULA
-
@sony1492 That drive was surreal, So glad I took the longcut.
-
@mm54 This place holds the 2nd lowest temperature record in the US, just behind Alaska at -69.3F. Its a natural cold basin and it locks it in.
-
@hammerheadfistpunch this one, I
sure miss Utah, considering a spring trip with mountain bikes right now.
-
@just-jeepin The photos are coming in much better than old Kinja, that's for darn sure.

Flickr is the best way to do it. Multiple download sizes and still protects the rights of the uploader (you will need to pay a subscription once you hit 1000 images I believe).

@sony1492 @HammerheadFistpunch
Ha, I was visiting there last night!
-
@someoneatacura I’ve never looked at the photo storage/sharing sites, oddly. Between SmugMug and Flickr: do they both provide image URLs that we can directly embed here, or can you only link to pages on those services?
-
@just-jeepin they embed nicely, several folks already use flikr and imgur for hosting and embedding high quality photos.

Flickr has lots of sharing options, including size (you don't need to set the size when you upload like photobucket used to do.

Do you know what share setting works best for linking into this site? I tried my regular embed one I use on Detailing forums but it didn't work great.

No need to have it generate any html tags or embedding detail. Just a direct link to the image.

Nice! Lets test it.

@hammerheadfistpunch the 2nd and 4th pics from the end are fantastic.
-
@pip-bip Those are my favorites too. They were both taken with my cell phone and the top was taken while I was still in bed in the back of the cruiser. here is the video
Not bad for being shot, editing and uploaded in my underwear.

Great pics, makes me want to get back out there.
