Going to make a Craigslist buy

Sorry, not an interesting car. Possibly vaguely automotive related. https://fortcollins.craigslist.org/grd/d/firestone-john-deere-heavy-duty-48/7257076904.html

@VincentMalamute have fun - a new CL purchase is always great. I'm a sucker for plows on garden tractors - they're so much fun and way easier than also keeping a tractor for when you need a plow.

just duct tape a shovel to your mower.

Ok...but this doesn't seem like it will be any better.

It's got wheels, less back strain

@jminer I thought it was going to be the light duty blade that hooks onto the front of the garden tractor frame. This turned out to be the heavy duty blade with an undercarriage attachment that runs the full length of the frame.
I'm not sure how this is going to work given that it's designed for a John Deere garden tractor and mine is a Craftsman.
I bought it anyway since it was almost new, just missing the sacrificial metal strip that runs along the blade bottom, and it was a good deal at $160. I know the light duty blades are $500 new, I can't imagine what the heavy duty ones are.
It's heavy so my fear is the blade weight just adding to the potential for overheating the hydrostatic transmission when moving dirt. I have a blower attachment for the tractor for snow.
It'll be a year before I get around to trying to rig up an attachment. You'll see me asking for help then.

@vincentmalamute That’s definitely a hell of a deal on a heavy duty blade!
You’re probably right though that it’ll require a good deal of fabrication to fit a craftsman, very different setup.
-
@jminer I had looked at how the light duty blade mounted on my neighbor's setup and it looked like it was going to be easy to bolt on or weld on a metal mounting plate onto the front of the frame.
oh well. Start thinking of ideas on how to mount this. I'll ring you back up in a year and see what you've come up with
