Rain and how to fix a circuit board

After 5" rain in 3 hours, the neighbor’s Camry got drenched, waking us to blaring horn as the security system board under the driver’s seat died.
I took the security system board out of it’s holder and told them to run it through their dishwasher and then dry it in the oven at 200 f. Guess what, good as new!
The lesson is, electronics are a lot tougher than you give them credit for. Get them clean and dry and they might just work again....

What was the dishwashering stage for? (soap, no soap? Jet Dry no Jet Dry?)
