DOTS: Hennessy VelociCRAPtor
-
I saw a Hennessy Velociraptor. Cool, but they didn't bother to make it look any different than a regular Ford Raptor. Admittedly, that truck is already so cool it's hard to improve on, but at least make an effort guys!
The Saleen F150 is much more appropriately flamboyant.
This machine looks utterly ridiculous in the parking lot of Best Buy. Can anyone tell me what is horrifically wrong with this specific parking lot?
Yes, it's a wide vehicle, but you could at least bother to park it well. I think it looks kind of stupid for the car to retain its factory Raptor badging in addition to the Velociraptor stuff.
How many of these have they made? Probably not many of these get to actually be taken offroad. This just looks wrong this clean.
Velociraptor or Velocicraptor? I'd still take it, but it's a little excessive for my taste.
-
Ignoring the horrible street-only wheels with rubber band mud tires, can we talk about how awful that rear bumper is? It doesn't fit the lines of the truck at all and looks like they just bolted one on that has worse than stock departure angles.
Overall 0/10 screw Hennessey.
-
@rider The front bumper also appears to have worse approach angle but yeah, the rear bumper is way overdone. That tow hitch is the real limiting factor in departure angle and offends my aesthetic sensibilities. Who on earth would want to tow with this?
-
@whoistheleader Those wheels look like they were $99/ea and come with EZ Finance, no credit check required. I guess money can't buy taste...

Perhaps it's an optional add-on from Hennessey that they can do courtesy of other customer's money.
-
@whoistheleader The front bumper is a little harder to see here but it definitely proturdes more than the stock one. I'm not sure why anyone thought this was a good idea. At least the trailer ball is easily removable compared to the rest of it.
-
Those wheels... Crime against humanity
-
@rider Hennessey knows their target demographic; this is equipped appropriately, I assure you.

That could probably be said about most of this guy's possessions.

I'm sure those bumpers looked good in a CAD program. Though it seems they never bothered to check what they look like on the truck itself.
-
@whoistheleader Why is that front row of parking rotated 90 degrees from the rows behind it (that are oriented correctly)?!?!?
What civil engineer flunkie got that job?
-
This parking lot annoys the crap out of me. It's so wrong! Makes the traffic flow really weird around the front of the store. Yes, two stores have it oriented correctly, but four don't!
-
@whoistheleader Oooooh, I see. I had mistaken that one car in the background of the original photo as being parked. That's why I thought the 'rear' parking rows to be rotated to the correct orientation.
As for that particular parking lot, yeah, with stores on two sides like that, one side is inevitably going to get awkward.
-
@flatisflat for some reason, it just doesn't work at all in this orientation for this specific lot though. I'm not sure why, but the fact that the awkward side is much larger but it also changes orientations halfway through just irks me.

way too many vinyl bits.
-
I guess the LED light bars haven't come in yet, but props for not having a political or similar stickers on it. That being said, my fintail gets more off-road time than this thing. But I know a heavy duty rig is needed to pick up some toner on the way home to the cardboard 'n plywood tract mcmansion after a hard day working in the corporate office campus.
I'd love to park a nice weathered 1970 Power Wagon right up on that line.
-
So, what's the price difference between regular Raptor and the Hennessey?

If anything, I think it needs more. MORE GRAPHICS less fabrication, please.
-
@annoying_salman a regular Raptor can be had for a little under $60,000. The Hennessy tuned one is $150,000 for the four wheeled one but they also make a 6x6 that's a lot more expensive.

You're right, no LED light bar. . . yet. Surprising given the custom wheels.
It probably will never see dirt. A real shame but they're just status symbols. I usually like the fast street trucks like the Saleen F150 (seen one in person, pretty cool) but these off-road brand name tuners being used as grocery getters seems like a waste.

WHAT? That truck costs $150,000? What did Hennessey do to make the price that high?
-
@annoying_salman Put his name on it
-
@whoistheleader Pretty sure that truck just spit dip at me
-
@annoying_salman Let me see, they buy an F150 Raptor, supercharge it, lift it, install some different bumpers, and put the name Hennessy on the side. You could create a fake one for half of what they charge.
