Well, that's it then.

I just finished archiving three posts and four comment sections from Old Oppo onto my laptop. Other than various photos, this is all I'll have saved from Oppo. I really regret not trying to write better crap lol
-
@dr-zoidberg But if you spent more time on articles that weren't about home renovations, dogs, old Toyotas, and chandeliers, that would've been more stuff to save.
-
I enjoy the crap you write...lol
I haven’t archived anything. Let it all dissolve into the void. -
@classicdatsundebate I saved my reviews that, at the time, I put effort into. Although when I read stuff from the past I do cringe sometimes.
-
I'm letting it all go. I thought about saving mergio, but meh
-
@carsoffortlangley You saved the photos from the meets though, right?
-
@Dr-Zoidberg I know the feeling. Isn’t it weird to read something you wrote so long ago that you forgot you wrote it? To read your own words in true 3rd party can be a real eye opener
-
@dr-zoidberg Yeah, all photos that I've ever taken (Oppo or otherwise) are all backed up. Anytime you want any from the meets let me know
-
@carsoffortlangley Thanks. I also still have all the photo from the first meet I hosted.

How was that Tercel 4x4 anyway? That was before I was an Oppo. I have a crazy, crazy urge for any 4x4 vehicle these days.
-
@carsoffortlangley I owned three and they were all awful for various reasons. I also hope to buy a fourth one within a few years. My favorite car by a landside. Could drive up a mountain, if it doesn't rust apart before half the climb.
-
@dr-zoidberg I still feel like a clean first gen rav4 is a good buy. I'm in no real rush on it.
-
@carsoffortlangley The Rav4 is a real workhorse and ubiquitous (wow, I spelled that right the first time!), a much safer bet than an obscure wagon. Plus, uh, safer in general. I have many open tabs the last few months of just 1st-gen Rav4s. The 2-doors (3) are cooler but command a premium and are honestly just less useful and will ride worse due to shorter wheelbase. Removable back on the 2-doors is pretty dope, though.
-
@dr-zoidberg It's gonna be a 4 door, for sure. I've checked out a few. Honestly, I'd be willing to pay a premium for one.
There's one in Ontario with 50,000 miles and is stunning. If it was closer I'd buy it. Seattle has a few too. Seems like the ones around here leave a little to be desired right now.
I'm working from home for the foreseeable future and with 3 cars sitting unused, I'm in no rush to add a 4th. I've got time on my side.
-
@dr-zoidberg I have nothing saved, not even the Tundra 1792 post that still gets the occasional comment.
-
@carsoffortlangley I had missed when you initialle "came out" as Mergio. I didn't know until you reposted that article. Bravo good sir, that was amazing satire.
-
Honestly, there is value to all the little "throw away" posts. There wouldn't be much to read, if everything had to be some carefully crafted long-form thing.
-
@shop-teacher Thanks! It was a ton of fun
