Mustang thoughts: it's going to get me in trouble
-
Took it for a cruise today, by that I mean a grocery and Crappy Tire run (250 km round trip). Here are some initial thoughts:
- The amount of horsepower and the ease of using it means I am incredibly likely to get a speeding ticket. Wide open throttle is a drug and I'm an addict.
- Sound system is pretty good. Is it worth losing the trunk space? Maybe not, but still.
- Trunk is very useable. Cooler fits in with no issues.
- It soaks up highway kilometres with no problem, no fuss. It's such a good cruiser.
- Sync by Microsoft
is... well, times have improved things. No interior screen is a novelty and I dig it.
- The track only apps in the main display includes a timer for 0-100 mph runs. I am horribly tempted.
- It looks the business.
Uhhhhhhhh sea shanty.

@CB Glad you're enjoying it!

I love everything about it. V8 is love, V8 is life.
-
@CB Self awareness leads to enlightenment, which leads to nirvana...
-
@CB But what does Sammy think of it?
-
@CB Don't remind me. I miss the 2 weeks I got to enjoy driving a V8.... sigh

I haven't found a way to safely (and cleanly) put her in the back seat, because it's not flat. Will require some brainwork to sort that out.

The Camaro would be great if it wasn't a GM product.
Then again, I'm driving a Ford, so my resentment time will come.
-
@CB do the rear seats fold down and flat?

They fold down, not really flat? But I prefer access to the seatbelt clips because I seatbelt Sammy in when we go for a drive. Safety first!

I feel like if Safety were your priority, you wouldn't be driving a Mustang lol

@atfsgeoff He now lives his live one quarter mile at a time
-
@atfsgeoff Safety for him or pedestrians?
-
It's weird to see someone talk about a mustang and kilometers

@davesaddiction Meanwhile:
Not to slam the Mustang at all, they are different cars good at different things. -

I forgot it was that short…damn.
-
@facw well to be even more fair CB's mustang has 100 more horsepower than the one top gear tested.
-
@CB I would have already done 100+ in that car. You have more willpower than I do.

This is the way

@HoustonRunner I owned it for 6 months, but really only drove it the first 2 weeks. After all the shit that went down (a lot of which while I was away in Japan), I did drive it a handful of other times but each time was when I found another issue.

@CB I remember cruising on a quiet highway in a rental Camaro SS once and grappling with the realization that the only thing keeping me at legal speeds was self control.
A quick push of the loud pedal and that thing would be past 100mph and still accelerating in a blink.
Are there areas nearby where you might -ahem- know where the speed traps are located? -

Are there areas nearby where you might -ahem- know where the speed traps are located?I could guess, but the main issue out here is wildlife. One deer runs out at 170 km/h and you're toast.

Well sure, but most deer top out at about 50, so you're probably OK.

@CB I knew my fast car would eventually get me in to trouble. It finally did one day, with a ticket that was far enough above the speed limit that I would have had to do a court appearance if this weren't the kind of area where they love it when you get a lawyer to fix tickets.
