Smokey MiG

@ForSweden Saabs run cleaner than Ladas.
-
@ForSweden I know the Soviets weren't quite as good at engines as the West, but I'm still surprised to see a 4th-gen fighter kicking up that much smoke. I wonder if it has mechanical issues or if the Ukrainians have had to use substandard fuels as a result of wartime shortages?
-
@Highlander I don't know, it's smoking a lot at the end of this video:
-
@facw I suspect Ukraine is flying them hard and parking them wet, knowing they'll either lose the war or win and buy new jets.
-
@facw this is the second Gripen crash, and the same pilot was involved in the first Gripen crash!
-
@ForSweden I didn't realize both crashes had the same pilot. You'd think if you were having issues with pilot induced oscillation that you might switch pilots, though maybe they thought this guy really knew what it felt like.
-
@facw hehe. that reminds me of a joke I heard.
Bob and frank go on their annual hunting trip in Alaska and bag themselves 3 HUGE moose. They are very proud. The issue is, the moose are so big, that they can find anyone to fly them out of camp with all of their catch. One pilot says the plane cant take the weight. Bob and frank plead and beg with him, saying they move as much moose last year with the same model plane. the pilot finally relents and says sure. they load up, take off, and sure enough, 5 minutes into the flight, the weight is too much for the plane, it taps out, and they crash. After they drag themselves out of the the wreckage, the pilot starts swearing up and down at Bob and frnak, saying how now they are lost in the mountians. To which Bob goers: no hang on, we know this area! this is where we crash landed last year too

That's quite a chemtrail they are laying down there...It is a standard practice to increase the dose during wartime

PIO isnβt a deficiency of the pilot. Think of a good motorcycle tank slipper, and then ask if itβs the rider that is the difference. PIO can happen given the right circumstances.
-
Are they running F-4 engines in those now?
-
@ttyymmnn Eh, I'm sus of that video. 29s are smokey, but not that smokey.
Even without the censoring, the vid is so compressed it's hard to tell who's MiG that is, or if it's even a recent video. -
I have a feeling it was hit by AAA or something.
-
I didn't see the i in the title at first so thought a smokey MG? what's new there?

when youhave a country as flat as a pancake, have a lot of potential runways. On thedrive there was a post the fighters aren't returning to the same spots. And as soon as the plane takes off the crew rush to the next spot.
