Company owner wrote a job listing and had me post it to the company Facebook page. It was immediately flagged as being discriminatory. Why? Who the hell knows.
-
Facebook moderators are probably bored as hell
-
@EssExTee You are exluding handywomen and other handypeople.
-
@ibRAD Handypersons, bigot
-
@EssExTee it's "handyman". You sexist twat.

Once upon a time my neighbour was doing some work outside and I asked him if he needed an extra set of hands. I felt terrible as soon as the words came out of my mouth. He was an amputee! (or maybe born that way, but the point was that he only had one hand) He didn't seem phased by it at all though.
-
@EssExTee I think I know why...and it's ridiculous...You used the word 'Handyman' And to FB that probably implies that you only want a man to do it.... Dear Facebook I don't care which set of plumbing the person doing the job has, so long as they can get the job done!
-
ETHIC, not ETHNIC!
-
requiring a driver's license may be the flag, to be real with you.
-
@derp In that case it would be the government being discriminatory, not the employer!

The government has tanks; you don't.

@EssExTee I hope they don't have to do any work in a manhole. I'm not renaming that to a personhole.
-
@EssExTee It was flagged for incomplete sentence structure.
-
@EssExTee Facebook is the worst place to look for jobs. I'd rather look through my spam folder.
-
@Highlander I didn't write the ad, man
-
@ForSweden How do you know?
-
-
@EssExTee Presumably handyman or the driver's license requirement. Slightly problematic things about both, but neither should get your post pulled IMO.
-
@Highlander Man, incomplete sentences are how we talk. Weird 18th century grammar lovers can get over themselves.
-
@facw what's problematic about requiring a driver's license for a job that requires you to drive?
if that's truly the flag, it's a fault with the job policy, not the job posting.
-
@derp Not much, but it's unnecessarily exclusionary. I'd make it a bit inclusive with "Valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one, required". No reason to cut out a talented applicant over something that can be acquired in a few hours (nb: minorities are less likely to be licensed). Though in reality, I don't think it makes much difference.

Handymam
Careful not to write it handyma'am; then it'd be ageist!

fair point! easy edit.

@ibRAD I work with a guy that lost a pinky in a motorcycle accident. He likes to see people’s faces when he throws his hands up and says “high four” instead of high five.
