Also, TIL that Sony used to make tower PCs. Man, Vaio was a trip, wonder what happened to that sub-brand...

@wheelerguy Vaio was so ahead of the time, until they weren't and just ended up being pretty laptops with mediocre specs. I am a die hard Windows user, and I simply don't understand why no one can make a laptop that is even close to competing with Macbooks in quality. My work issued 17" Dell XPS costs as much as a used car, and my 7 year old Macbook blows it out of water in case quality.

Vaio could have been that company if they played their cards right.

@wheelerguy I remember seeing these Sony Vaio products, including the laptops and thinking their design was super cool. Cool looking, not cool components though. I assume they ran hot.

@EssExTee I have, on loan from my school. If it wasn't for the fact that I eventually got a hand-me-down 2018 MacBook Air* from my brother, that probably would have been what I would have wished as a Christmas gift (though I'd have waited for a Ryzen CPU-powered one beforehand).

*I legit wanna change it out to the new Apple Silicon MacBook, but I wanna time it just right so that it's on the M2 and I can get it with both mucho RAM and half a terabyte of storage.

@EssExTee Yeah, not a fan at all - especially not in enterprise environment. I'd have XPS over Thinkpad for everything.

Plus, my parents both have Lenovo. My moms Yoga has suffered from screwed up touch screen after the 366th day of ownership...

@Italia I've seen them be described as "TopGear but with computers" and having watched damn near every TopGear, I say it's accurate.
