More stuff about the Eletre.

I was looking at an article on the new Eletre. Apparently it has around 600 horsepower and can do 0-60 in less then 3 seconds. And it's "light", being made from carbon fiber and aluminum. It's power-weight ratio is probably better then the Elise. It should only weight around 3,600 lbs, less then a charger.

@Mercedes_500E_W124 Lotus fanboys when they realize that the 3-eleven weighs 2,040 lbs instead of 2,000.
-
@Nick-Hynds Where did you see the weight of the Eletre? I’m pretty sure it hasn’t officially been released by Lotus yet. Carwow said it’s going to weigh in at over 4000lbs. I originally heard 4400lbs. No way this is going to weigh 3600lbs when a Tesla Model X with a 100 kWh battery pack weighs 5400lbs.
-
@Napoli It appears to be about the same size as the Model Y which weighs about 4,500 lbs. The Eletre should weight less as it has about 25% less range then the Y, therefor about a few hundred lbs of batteries it doesn't have on board. That's in addition to the carbon fiber aluminum construction. 3,600 lbs is a pretty reasonable estimate. After all, the Evija weighs about 1,000 lbs less then the Nevera.
-
@Nick-Hynds The Eletre has a lower range with a larger battery pack than the Model Y. A Model Y uses a 74 kWh battery pack and the Eletre will have a 100 kWh battery pack. Don't assume that because an electric car has a lesser range it has a smaller battery pack. It could have a lesser range due to a higher weight, worse aerodynamics, worse efficiencies, etc.
-
@Napoli Fair point, but counter point, the range could also be less due to the 300% more hp that the Electre has.
-
@Nick-Hynds How much horsepower does a Model Y make and how much does an Eletre make?
-
@Napoli I'm not sure how much power the Y has because Tesla doesn't actually publish that information. I see numbers ranging from 450 to 197 hp.
