toyota engines never die, but when they do...
-
my father was visiting his brother's farm and took some pics of this Ford powered delight for me. not legal to register, so it's farm truck duties only now.
not entirely clear was the reasoning was for ditching the Toyota power, the work was done by a prior owner. It's inability to be registered, becuase the engine was older than the chassis, meant it was a $500 bargain for my uncle.
-
@monkeepuzzle Just pay taxes on it and SC would give you a plate. Wonder if the Ozzies would let you drive around on an SC plate?

Hell, bring it to Minnesota, we'll let you put a plate on just about anything.
Ford engine in a Toyota does seem odd though. Might be 1 of 1.

Oh shit, get this on BAT ASAP!
-
@e90m3 Most counties in Utah would also not give a crap what was in there.
-
@HammerheadFistpunch So what I've gotten out of this is, pick a state and register it there then drive it half way across the world from where it's registered.
-
@WasGTIthenGTOthenNOVAthenGTInowA4 I was shocked when I learned that Minnesota will give you a plate to put on a home-built trailer.
-
@monkeepuzzle Probably because most of the engines, okay, all of the engines up until the 1KZ in the 2nd Gen are straight up garbage. This includes the 22RE.

Yeah, the inspectors genuinely DNGAF. We also don't have any inspections for safety or emissions so there is some WILD shit driving around on the roads.
-
@WasGTIthenGTOthenNOVAthenGTInowA4 I think it also has to do with the knockdown kits people will get for utility trailers that have to be assembled. We have the same stuff here in Alaska. Hell, most of the trailers that HD or Lowes sells are kits.
-
@WasGTIthenGTOthenNOVAthenGTInowA4 Same as Indiana
-
@monkeepuzzle WTF is that intake? Is it running propane?
-
Toyota engines never die? Tell that to my goddamn 7m-GTE
-
@EssExTee a permanent plate nonetheless.
-
@monkeepuzzle i shall note for those suggesting <US STATE> where it could be registered, I am a naturalized American, and originally Australian; this mish mash is a farm truck in Australia.
-
@monkeepuzzle I know, that's why I said wonder if the Ozzies would let you drive it around on an SC plate.
-
@monkeepuzzle If I had to guess off hand, the 22r/3vz that were powering it were underpowered oil sucking turds so they pulled them out for something that at least had some decent torque to move it.
-
@EssExTee in Wisconsin you don't even need a plate or to register a trailer under 3000 lbs

I dont know. Entirely possible, CNG cars are/were more popular in Aus than the US. I shall seek clarification from my uncle
-
@monkeepuzzle If it's pre-OBD2 (I don't know my Toyotas well enough to know that), registering that would be no problem in Illinois. Actually, in most counties in Illinois, the OBD2 thing wouldn't matter anyways.

@EssExTee
Some home built trailers are better than others
Behold, a former camper trailer from the 60's, with some "changes"
